Titan Throwing Codes at me

2036 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  James Con
The other day the SES light came on. So I scanned it and came up with P0455, Which is evap control sys.( Emission control sys leak, Large. says scanner) So I did some research and turns out there is a TSB on the EVAP canister vent control valve. So I removed the unit and it was all dusty and dirty inside and wasn't sealing right. I cleaned it out and it started to seal properly. Reset the code and a week later it came on again same code. The kicker is another code came up with it p0128 thermostat function.(temp below reg. temp. says scanner) Followed the SM flow chart and looks like either thermo or temp. sensor. My dilemma is should I go to the stealership and have them throw a line of bullsh!t at me about my CAI or is the CAI a none issue. I do have the extended warranty, 50 dollar deductable though. If anyone has had this problem please chime in on your results any advice would help. And if anyone has the TSB #ntb06-095a with the part number of the new and improved evap canister vent control valve I would appreciate it. I can't find the TSB in full anywhere. Thanks

A CAI will not void your warranty if that's what your concerned about.
The P0455 can be anything from a gas cap not sealing tight to the EVAP canister (stuck switch).
Attached is the full TSB.

I was getting that code p0455 for a few months, I brought it to the dealer three times they would reset it and tell me it was the gas cap, Until they finaly replaced the EVAP CANISTER, Havent had any codes comeup since. Its been about4 months since i had it done.

Yeh, That's what I am leaning toward, the evap canister control valve as per the tsb. It makes sense because when I took the valve out of the evap can it was filthy inside, So I know it wasn't sealing right. If they tell me it is the gas cap I am gonna insist that they test it in front of me. Thanks for the info

Thanks BBF for the TSB. That's exactly what I need to show the dealer. My dealership is pretty sneaky when it comes to warranty work.
