Help, my titan has been dead for 3 months now and I can not afford to have it wrecker to the dealer.
Before it quit running the service engine soon light came on and off, stopped into a parts store and the said the code was emissions but that is all they could retrieve from the code.
Before it quit running on 2 occasions it was hard to start after a short stop into a store, then just quit running backing down the driveway one morning. The fuel sending unit had gone bad a year before and I had it replaced so I thought that it might be the problem again. Let it sit until I got home that night, put 5 gal of fuel in the tank even though the gauge said I had fuel, it finally started after several attempts, pulled it into the driveway, turned it on and off 6 times with no problem. The next morning it would not start, this is where the fun starts.
Checked fuel pressure and it has about 50# when trying to start and the needle on the fuel pressure gauge was jumping back and forth from 45 to 55#.
Changed Plugs and Boots, no change to condition.
Someone looked at it and said it was the Ignition Switch, $350 later and still the same situation.
When you try to start the truck for the first few times it spits and tries start but it will not fully take off and run.
On 2 occasions since I last drove it into the garage it has started!!!, on one instance it ran rough at first with a lot of white smoke coming out the tailpipe and this seemed to settle down the longer it ran, turned it on and off about 6 times, no problem. Later went back and it would not start.
I found on line a comment about an electrical connection from the engine to transmission that can corrode.
Help if you can?
