My Titan has been getting over the past couple years with the AC. For a while, it would only act up once in a while, now it happens all the time, it is either hot or cold, there is no in between. I replaced the control panel but that didn't help, it's rediculous, heat during the winter is fine, but during the summer using AC, it is either freeze your nuts off cold or roast your nuts off hot. I've searched for people with similar issues, but I can't find any posts with the same issue. Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this?

I had a 2004 Titan and at about 75000 miles on it and my heater would not blow heat I discovered the door that opens for heat inside the heater , electric or vacuum operated, can't remember, did not work. I had gold extended warranty. The dealer found it when I took in in for service, after I whined about it , anyway to fix it was over $500.00. We'll, my extended warranty would not cover it. I needed the platinum plan. So I sold it.the door was like $20.00 and the labor @ 95.00 x 5 hours to r&r. 0n my 2012 Titan there was a recall for the same thing. Good luck. The whole heater and a/c has to come out.

Thank you, I had a recall notice for that and took it in for that, I still have the paperwork where they supposedly repaired it, which is why I was assuming it wasn't that issue. I may tear the dash apart this weekend and see if I can locate that control. I saw a video on that posted in this forum somewhere, but again, I was assuming that wasn't the issue because I have taken it in for the recall and it seems like the symptoms are slightly different. All I know is it's aggravating and on a long trip it's enough to make me want to get rid of it.

Well I have the same symptom with my '15 KC, but as everything was seriously stuffed with during the right hand drive conversion I wouldn't assume it is the same problem.

In mine the coolest setting (dial all the way left) always gives me cold, 2nd and 3rd notch tend to give me whatever I just had, and everything else gives me super hot.

So if that is the same symptom for you I'd love to know a cause. Otherwise the dash is coming out I guess

Maybe it could be the actuator that controls the temp starting to go out?

Sounds like a blend door actuator problem. Had this happen to my 2010 Titan. It's located behind the passenger glove compartment and all the way toward your fire wall, not easy to get to that's why the dealership charges you 4-6 hours labor. From what I remember it was under $50 off the shelf. YouTube was helpful.

Thank you everyone for your responses, I sounds like what I feared, which means I'll be tearing the dash apart. I haven't done it yet because it's been too hot, once I finally get it opened up and see, I will let you all know.

Hey everyone, I figured I would let everyone know that I finally broke down and tore my dash apart to see if I could find the issue. I already replaced the heater control unit in the dash, that didn't resolve the issue and after I opened the dash, I saw the issue was definitely with the blend door actuator. I replaced the actuator and still had the issue, I then noticed that it appeared there was a broken piece on the actuator control arm that stops the actuator from going too far (I will try to attach some pictures before and after). Basically what happens is without the stopper, the actuator turns too far and will not go the other way until you turn the knob far enough to make the actuator got to full heat (which is roughly 2/3's of the knob turn), once the actuator turns to full heat, then it will work properly until you go to far to the cool side. You can permanently fix the issue by putting a screw with a piece of tubing around the screw (cheap method) or you if you can find the arm somewhere, buy a new part.

IF someone has this same issue, you can work around the issue without tearing your dash apart by following these steps. This isn't a fix, but it would save you the time of tearing your dash apart like I did. Basically if you turn the knob all the way to full heat (give it a couple seconds to actually move there), it will allow you to use you heat/cooling settings as normal, BUT do not adjust your cooling side below 2 clicks on the cool side or else you basically have to reset the actuator by turning the knob to full heat for a couple seconds. While I had the dash apart, I watched how it worked, and this should work around the issue.

I wonder if this will fix my AC issue?

Basically it has never had much ac pressure, so the crew cab is hot in the summer, with the ac running full cool, and on the fan highest temperature. I can't turn the fan knob to the last setting, and never could because the fan switches off there. The dealer told me that it is off position either direction full turn, which I thought was bs, but gave up arguing with them. Power Nissan went out of business, and I wasn't the least bit surprised.

I'd love to actually get cold air in the summer time, enough to cool down the cab. I realize that here in arizona when it's 110 degrees it is going to struggle - but in the same weather my honda accord exl v6 can be an ice box if I want. I realize that's a smaller cabin, but it is a really small ac unit too.

I've always thought the AC was just super-weak in the Titan.

Mine does the exact same thing, it's very annoying. Did you ever figure out the fix? I have the XD 2016.

Did you buy it new or used? I got my 17 used from the local Nissan dealer as a cpo so it srill has the warranty.

If yours is a cpo too, ask about them checking it for you

Ahh, I don't know what they did to mine when it was acting weird like that. They only had it for an hour or two and they said it was done though but what they did, no idea
