Hey everyone, I figured I would let everyone know that I finally broke down and tore my dash apart to see if I could find the issue. I already replaced the heater control unit in the dash, that didn't resolve the issue and after I opened the dash, I saw the issue was definitely with the blend door actuator. I replaced the actuator and still had the issue, I then noticed that it appeared there was a broken piece on the actuator control arm that stops the actuator from going too far (I will try to attach some pictures before and after). Basically what happens is without the stopper, the actuator turns too far and will not go the other way until you turn the knob far enough to make the actuator got to full heat (which is roughly 2/3's of the knob turn), once the actuator turns to full heat, then it will work properly until you go to far to the cool side. You can permanently fix the issue by putting a screw with a piece of tubing around the screw (cheap method) or you if you can find the arm somewhere, buy a new part.
IF someone has this same issue, you can work around the issue without tearing your dash apart by following these steps. This isn't a fix, but it would save you the time of tearing your dash apart like I did. Basically if you turn the knob all the way to full heat (give it a couple seconds to actually move there), it will allow you to use you heat/cooling settings as normal, BUT do not adjust your cooling side below 2 clicks on the cool side or else you basically have to reset the actuator by turning the knob to full heat for a couple seconds. While I had the dash apart, I watched how it worked, and this should work around the issue.
