Titan XD first thoughts, concerns...

Now that it has been unveiled, I would like to discuss the Titan XD from a personal standpoint. I have owned a 06 Titan as well as dozens of GM, Ford dodge and toyota trucks.

Lucky to have the opportunity to drive and work inside/out of dozens of new titans I must say the XD is a completely new animal. The only thing that's about the same are the door handles.

The cummins 5.0 appears very quality and well built from working around it. The truck is reasonably quiet, with very thick interior padding. It is a very large truck, larger than my F250 I would presume, but steers amazingly easy, it does not move like you might think a 7k lb truck would. The seat leather on the platinum is super soft, and the pro4x seats appear to be a different but quality material as well. Back seat room is great. The HID headlights inside the projectors are very classy and accurate.

The 5.6 version as you probably know has the QX80 engine with direct injection, as evident with the high pressure fuel setup atop the intake. This truck feels more peppy than the diesel and I am interested to see how the mpg is on this version.

One main concern I have is tire fitiment. The XD has a 265/xx/20 I cannot remember exact size but they appear small under the truck, however there's about an inch of clearance at the back of the tire to the fender well at half turn which may prevent a 33-34" tire from clearing. Also with the stock wheels and their very positive looking offset, the tire is only about an inch from the upper control arm at its top center position.

Just sharing some thoughts, overall this is a big and luxurious "work" truck... I have not seen any exact pricing figures per option levels yet though.

you've worked on the new gas version?????
Seriously...screw the 5.0 version.....tell us about the gasser. Did you get your hands or eyes on the non XD version?
Yes only the gas XD... I have not seen nor heard anything about the true half ton titan it's supposed to be released next month I believe.
5.6 non XD with the 400 hp QX80 engine?? Honda, didn't you say your mom had the QX80 and got 20+ mpg's with that engine?

its a QX56, so the SUV with the 5.6. its the new body style, but before they changed the name to the 80 or whatever. but yeah her average between city and highway is 17:eek_surprise:

I'm not sure I take anything you say as fact based off this post.
Lol, you don't have to, I don't care. I'm just offering my perspective from a truck enthusiast standpoint since I build them/repair them each day.

I have no idea yet what engines the non XD will have nor any info on that model, but it shouldn't be much longer until that info is avaliable.
You said you don't know what engines its gonna have yet you say you've driven the new 5.6 direct injection in a titan.
^^^^^^^^^^. Agreed! This sounds like a marketing ploy or something??? I don't know a lot about the truck but it is awesome!! Not that you're not honest it's just that it sounds strange. How do you get to work on all these? Can we see some pictures of you working them? What work do you do on them?
The 5.6 XD, yea. The smaller one has not been released. No I cannot take pics, I'm just trying to convey the point that this should be a quite a jump for Nissan and that I'm sure you guys will be impressed when they hit dealers. I wouldn't go buy an f250 just yet.
Just curious, why can't you post pictures? I
Who has seen this??
Pretty lame

As I'm sure you all know, every one I've seen has the gooseneck provisions in the bed... I'm not big in the heavy towing scene but I feel that the truck should hold a heavy load comfortably. The only thing half ton-like I can find about the truck is the 6lug bolt pattern.

Also I don't care for the huge C ummins logo on the front fender but it cannot be removed, as there is a hole underneath just as big if anyone was wondering
Oh yeah. I watch TFL all the time. I seen that when it came out. I was not feeling very proud when Andre said the F-150 gasser would out accelerate the XD till it hit it's top rev's in gear and would have to shift up-pulling a load too. After watching that, I figured a 3.5 Eco-Boost with Max Tow package, overdrive off and in Tow Mode would have walked the XD the entire run. I can't wait till they get their hands on one and run the IKE Gauntlet with Mr. Truck to see just how well (or not) it does.
Agreed. Everything is just too "fishy" and who's this Tyler guy that just joined and his only posts are talking up the XD?
Kinda obvious Nissan mole.
If the truck is the SH1T then it will be very obvious to everyone.
So why couldn't the TFL guys drive the darn thing? The F150 5.0 doesn't even come close to the towing ability of the 3.5L EB
Alright I'm done offering insight on a vehicle before you can see it in real life, due to dip****s like the one above.

Have a good one
I think the 1st gen is better aside from the interior :d
Tyler, don't get upset. I'm really hoping there is another great truck on the market but people on these forums aren't morons. I just checked when you joined and noticed that you recently joined (Dec) and all your posts are pumping up the 2016 Titan. Who does that? Why?
Why can't you tell us what "work" you do on the Titan? Why can you post pictures? Why can't a trusted truck tester drive the truck in a towing test? Your posts are of questionable authenticity at best and unfortunately the new Titan is failing before it even makes it to the dealers. This is very unfortunate considering how many people would have loved to buy a truck that was fairly priced, had above average MPG, great towing capacity and above all is attractive to the eye. I keep coming back to this forum hoping to find information about the gasser that fits the above criteria and sadly continually get disappointed and further more insulted by fake members sent to try and fool people into thinking they have inside information that invalidates everything so far that's been reported in the media........ Which is basically, the new Titan has failed until proven otherwise. I'll for sure drive one if they ever make it to the dealers but not because of your bullsh** posts!
Thanks for nothing.
