hi. checking in on the operation of my torque converter. 2015 pro4x with tow package. when towing (about 5000 lbs) in 4 in tow mode, i get what i think are all the appropriate behaviours - locking TC drops rpms by about 400, throttle response decreases, but if i really step on it it'll drop to third; i back off and can feel the upshift to 4 and the subsequent TC lock. without a load i get similar behaviour, execpt the rpm drop when the TC locks is less - about 150 rpms in 4.
so here is my issue - on a long tow (1100 kms; about 700 miles) everything worked fine until the last 250 kms or so, at which point the TC would no longer lock. means i was driving at 500 rpms higher than i should which greatly affected my mileage. tested after sitting overnight and everything good again.
what are the factors the ecu takes into consideration when locking? coolant, oil temp and transmission temps were good.
