About a month ago I had a low tire pressure light come on. Checked the tires and all were fine. The light will blink for a minute when starting the truck and then go solid and stay on.

Today I had an appointment with a local dealership to look at it. He said that THREE OF THE FOUR sensors were bad and needed replacement. I declined.

So, what are the odds that THREE OF THE FOUR sensors suddenly went bad at the same time a month ago?

I smell a rat.....

With a 2008 truck the most likely scenario is that the batteries are dead. It's not unusual for all of them to die around the same time. The sensors are not really "bad" but the batteries are not replaceable so the sensors have to be replaced.

If you don't like the light, and/or you like to keep your truck in tip top shape, I would say just live with it and have them all replaced the next time you replace the tires, as the tire must be dismounted from the wheel to replace the TPMS. They range in price anywhere from $30 to $60 each, depending on where you buy them. I just had Jack Williams supply/replace them at my last tire change. They were $40 each installed.

This dealer quoted me over $120.00 each.

I can live with the light being on, but I would rather have the feature working as it should.

Makes sense. I think I'll also have to have a dealer re-associate the new sensors to my truck.

Keep taking it to a stealership... and they'll keep digging far deeper into your pockets than anyone else... Find yourself a tire store. They do it all the time... a lot cheaper for the same stuff. They have all the calibration equipment too. No need to have a stealer do it. :dunno:

Great points. Yeah, dealers are robber barons, for sure.

Also, ALL Nissan TPMS sensors have a habit of being finicky. All of mine, on my Titan, my wife's Altima, and my old Pathfinder have needed resets about every 90 days or so.

And the Titan ones don't like load carrying tire pressures. Anything over 40 lbs of pressure sets them off.

I have aftermarket sensors and they work up to 65lbs without setting a light. Discount Tire installed and set them up....once and done.

Are you sure this wasn't for the install as well? Probably about right if they are going to unmount and remount the tire to replace them. This is why a lot of people replace them at the same time as the tires. You'll pay the same fee to have the tires taken on and new ones put on, but they typically don't charge you extra to do the TPMS sensor at the same time (which is why you see prices as low as $40-$60). Another $60 to have a tire taken off, remounted, rebalanced, etc, isn't unheard of.

It might have been. I still find it a bit weird that three of the four would suddenly go bad about a month ago.

OEM TPMS sensors have a life of about seven to ten years. You can get aftermarket sensors that work with the Titan. I got mine from Discount Tire.

Before you spend the money, see if you can get the the sensors to "wake up" through the relearn process. I had one sensor that would lose its way once a year. The relearn brought it back. After three years of that I eventually replaced all four when two others stopped working.

That is nice

Sad I have to say that, but the damn things do not work ... reliably.
I will agree, I hate having TPMS, I check everything over every oil change anyways. its easy enough to just keep an eye on it

I will have to look into the nice OTC scan tool at work to see if i can turn mine off with that one. should be the same as the snap on one, just different brand

I have TPMS on my trailer. I think they saved my bacon a couple months back. One tire had significantly higher PSI than the other three even though they all started out the same. That was my clue to replace that tire. The replacement tire ran at the same PSI as the other three, as I had hoped. When I tow I monitor the trailer and truck tires.
