Heres what you do to remove the caps, the mirror caps have 4 d-tabs one per side. Move your mirror all the way down; use a small skinny fat screwdriver to unlatch the d-tab from the mirror. Now move the mirror all the way up; unlatch d-tab from bottom. Right and left is the same process.
Helps to have someone hold a flash light.
