i have a 2004 titan, when i first start the truck it will go into reverse, however if i drive it around and put it into reverse, it acts like it is in neutral. I have to turn the truck off and back on and then it will go into reverse.

when working it shifts in nice, it spins the tires in reverse

it sat for about 3 months, i hooked up a jump box to it and when i went to start it the gauges were going crazy and still wouldnt turn over, i trickle charged the battery and started, i am not sure this had anything to do with it, but it had always shifted fine up until then.

hmmm, i will check into the shift solenoid, but since turning the car off then back on, it sounds like something that controls the solenoids that gets cleared out after turning it off
the truck sat for about a year before i began driving it, could that have anything to do with it?, i started driving it regularly to work this week and i had only 1 episode with the tranny and that was the first day, i also realized that when the reverse doesnt work, it stays in first gear in drive also and wont shift....now that i have been driving regularly though, i have not had any problems.

i wish i knew more about how the tranny works, i read the detailed filter change discussion and i think i will change the fluid AND filter this weekend.
i cleaned out the tranny filter and changed fluids, it was all really clean, a lot cleaner than i had anticipated, very little metal on magnets, but i have gone about a week without it having any problems or without it throwing the 1774 code...
so after about 6 months of no trouble with the tranny, it is doing the same thing again...i have to just turn truck off and back on and it is good...typically if i go into reverse first it will do it everytime, but if i go directly into drive it is typically ok...any thoughts?
