Good afternoon all,

Usually don't post due to being deployed but got home last week. Truck was running great as usual. But today I took off from a stop sign, wasn't trying to spin tires or take off hard but all of a sudden is started jerking and no moving at all. I was able to drive back home using the manual option but the regular drive it won't move it jerks and thuds. Using manual like I said drives perfect. Any ideas. It's an 06. Hoping it's a easy fix don't have time to take to dealership before I depart on my second have of deployment on Monday. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Maybe somethings clogged up in there or valve body might have crapped out. I would get it checked out at a transmission shop. Depending on when the fluid was changed last, a flush and fill might loosen up some grime, but if not your out all the new tranny fluid.

Complete flush and fill was done less than 20k miles (90k current) I'll probably take it to the local transmission shop on Friday at least get it diagnosed before I deploy again.

Afternoon ladies and gents, since i am unable to get it to the shop till tomorrow, i revisited everything fluid (which looks good, no materials in it), fuses, wires, reset ECU, ran a scanner on it with no codes. I took it out for another spin today. Still the same issues, but i did try something, i started out in M1, once it was ready to shift to 2nd (M2) i hit the auto/man button and it ran and shifted as normal. Would there be something with the torque converter or something. All gears feel great when going with the manual option. This is driving me crazy until i get to the shop tomorrow, i am usually good at searching and figuring out these types of issues, but seems everyone else issues is opposite of mine, the manual option does not work.

The new oem is $1200 from Nissan ($800-900 remanufactured) and $500 for install. Not bad for piece of mind I guess. Will be a couple months before the work is completed anyways so the truck will be sitting.

The part comes up in the Nissan parts system as Valve Assembly - Control, and there are a ton of separate P/Ns based on range of years and options. Retail price is over $1200 for the part, and it's not programmed.

$1700 installed, programmed probably isn't too bad for dealer service dept work.

Courtesy Parts lists the same parts for $200-300 off the retail price, but again, those are not programmed, and it's not at all clear what PN is needed, or even if an appropriate part is available for model years beyond 2012 (I was using my truck as an example).

Anyway, sorry to hear the news, Tonic, and as SM said, thanks for your service!

my 2 cents.
the valve bodys dont just go bad. 90% of the time its killed because of antifreeze. Even if the fluid looks clean, you need to pull the drain plug out of the trans, and see if the first couple seconds seem sketchy. Unfortunately the titan is prone to failing trans coolers in the radiator. Not saying thats your point. You may have a rare bird but I bet a pull there is gunk all over the valve body and TCM. If this is the case, I dont care where you went and what they say, replace the radiator unless you want to do it again in a few months.

FYI i have had about a 70% success rate in removing the valve body, soaking it in seafoam and then drying it out and reinstalling due to that issue. Of course replacing radiator is a given when I do it...

Thanks for the info guys. The previous owner did the radiator bypass prior to me purchasing it. So not really sure what exactly happened to it. They $1700 is installed by local reputable transmission shop and that's installed and programmed. Wish I had more time I would have tried the seafoam option, I've used it before in fuel, oil, and other applications. Didn't even thing about soaking the valve body.

I was having a problem with transmission in my 2006 Titan. Was stuck in lower gear and would not shift. I could shut the vehicle off, re-start and all worked fine. It happened a second time. Did the same thing but this time went to dealer. They checked it out and said that need a TCM (transmission control module) to the tune of $1400. However, said this part was not currently available, did not know when it would be but would call me when they had more info. So they changed the fluid put the pan back on and sent me on my way and NEVER called me back. That was about 4 1/2 years ago and it has worked fine since. My guess is the valve body was clogged and pulling the pan and changing the fluid probably broke loose whatever was clogging it up and all was fine. Hope this info assists you and determining your problem.

A bad valve body should give codes, and possibly make your trans work in 4th gear only.....hopefully that fixes it for you.

Well got the dreaded call from the transmission shop. Wasn't the valve body. Not sure exactly what it is but transmissions gonna need a complete rebuild.
