I have a '07 Titan 2WD w/4400 miles.

Twice now I've noticed an odd vibration when my tranny shifts into O/D. It didn't happen back to back and nothing particular was going on just normal city traffic. It almost seems like the ECU got confused & couldn't decide whether or not to shift, like being right on the shift-point. However, it runs fine so I doubt it's anything to worry about but I was just wondering if anybody has ever noticed/experienced this.

Honestly I'd rather not, at least not right away. Last time the dealer worked on my truck they damaged it and I was w/o it for 2 days.

I'm not hard on my truck & it is odd but it has not done it enough to concern me to much at this point.

Well this issue came up again the other day.

This time I was traveling around 40 mph & I felt this odd vibration, sort of like an out of balance flywheel, but I stepped on the gas a little & it shifted. I swear it seems as if the ECU is getting confused as to when to shift. Otherwise, the truck runs fine.

I did call the dealer to see if there were any TSB's out or if they were aware of any complaints/problems and of course they sd no. Like I figured they sd unless a light was popping on when the issues comes up the only thing they can do is try to duplicate the problem.

Guess I'll just keep driving...

Re: Transmission Shifting Issue

After test driving Toyota Tundra Crew Max, GMC Sierra SLT and the rest, I bought a fully optioned 2008.5 CC LE SWB 4x2 on February 4. After driving it 300 miles, i noticed a transmission vibration or "shudder" occurs around 35 to 40 MPH and between 1500 to 2000 RPM. If the transmission is shifting harder/quicker, the vibration will not occur...if you are coasting down from high speeds, or driving average to low speeds, and apply the gas very conservatively, then the truck feels like it is rolling over a washboard. The dealer tells me Nissan Engineering is evaluating the best solution, and has authorized the service technicians to conduct further raod tests. I want a new transmission! We will have a good fight on our hands if they pawn off some rebuilt parts of half-assed repairs.   Thank goodness I still have my 2005 F150 SC!!

I have a 2004 XE KC 2WD with 54k and it just started doing this. also does it on a steep hill when the trans comes out of overdrive in a downshift - kinda of a hard shift slam at those times. trying to get it to do it when you want to show somebody is the hard thing...

I'm kinda thinking a trans or motor mount is loose or worn???

Haggerty 08.5 I have the same shudder issue at 40 or so mph when in OD. Feels like it is stalling or something so I have to kick it down a gear.

I am also starting to think my torque converter is sticking or something(which I know nothing about so I am guessing)... see my thread in the transmission section about 5th to 3rd shifting...

I have an 07 4x4 and wonder if I am having the same problem. I describe it as a hick-up. It's a momentary hesitation (loss of momentum) with a slight thump sound. I can not predict when it is going to happen or cause it to happen, believe me I have tried. The only sure thing for me is it is usually at highway speeds (55- 70). I drive about 25 miles to work and have had it happen as many as three times, but often it won't happen at all. There are no lights and I have tried to see if the tach shows anything but this happens so quick I can't tell. I know it will be very difficult for the dealer to diagnose without a code thrown so I have been driving it trying to find some common theme with the problem. I just know the dealer will not be able to duplicate the issue, that is just my luck. If I do find out anything I will post it, and if anyone has any ideas or suggestions I am all ears.

I have an 05 titan with 25500 mile on it. It has started acting the same as luvbelly discribed. Driving at speeds where it starts to lug down it will shutter and act like it tried to shift but couldn't. It has done it many times this winter while driving on snow and slush covered roads in 4x4. Dealer service has not been able to recreate the problem and are now looking at the fuel sending unit. They are trying but not sure what to try. Anyone else out there?

I'm also having the same problem almost. I can be crusing along at 40to 50 MPH and I would have to let up on the gas pedalfor a few seconds. Then reapply the gas and it will start shaking real bad untill I let off the gas pedal.
then reapply and it is fine. This doesn't happen all the time either. I have notice this happening after I have used the tow mode. I had this in the shop in October 07 the last time I had used the tow mode. They couldn't find anything wrong.

In the death wobble & vib thread there was some discussion that may help this problem... The gist of the problem is the tranny tries to hold o/d causing the engine to lug. The ecu is programmed to hold o/d as long as possible in an effort to keep revs down and boost gas mileage. The vibrations you're feeling are from the engine lugging (which is not really cool). Downshift it yourself and they should go away.
