Hi fellow Titan fans. Here is my dilemma. I own a 2008 XE 4WD CC. Is has had a harder than normal life since I'm a cable guy. I drove it off the lot new and put a ladder rack on it the same weekend. As of 2 years ago I bought a travel trailer to use as I travel around doing cable. It only weighs about 5,000 lbs and the Titan has had very few problems until recently. I always tow in "tow mode". When the radiator was replaced this summer I was informed I might need to add more (dealer only) transmission fluid because some had leaked during the installation of the new radiator. He said this is why it was slipping all of a sudden. So I topped it off to the appropriate level and went about my business. This past week I relocated from Raleigh back to Atlanta. The truck was stuck in what seemed to be 3rd gear and then developed a vibration. It would not downshift so I had to rev it to get it to move. After a while I realized I could put it in park, cut the truck off then back on to get it to shift back into 1st and start through the normal shift pattern again. But still wont achieve a top/final gear nor will it drop out of third unless I park and restart again. The fluid levels are unchanged so I'm at a loss. What have I destroyed? Any help would be appreciated.

You should also be towing in 4th,I would add an external cooler that bypasses the radiator and change all of the fluid in the transmission. You can order a case of nissan matic s transmission fluid for about 120 shipped, and the cooler and parts will run you about 100$ if you do the job yourself. There is plenty of info on this forum to walk you through the process. I personally wouldn't drive it until you at least change the fluid, but it would be wise to add the cooler and change the fluid all in one shot. This is a good thread on the cooler install http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tit...ooler-sr4588-install-radiator-bypass-mod.html
This thread is good info for the fluid change http://www.titantalk.com/forums/tit...rivetrain/112468-transmission-drain-fill.html
If you don't have a transmission temperature guage you could also add one while you have all of the lines open.
