I picked up this month's issue of Truckin' and found they were choosing 2008's truck and suv of the year. I was a little disappointed but not surprised by what they had to say.
Truck Lineup: '08 Ford Lariat Limited, '08 Dodge Ram, '08 Nissan Titan, '07 Toyota Tundra
SUV Lineup: '08 Dodge Durango, '08 Jeep Grand Cherokee, '08 Nissan Armada
They said GM was to blame for not donating so they weren't included.
Of course they bashed the Nissans like they always do but the dyno runs and 1/4 mile runs they reported said otherwise.
I couldn't believe that they praised the Ram for having a stupid 1990 looking interior but kept finding bad things to complain about the Titan and Armada's interior. Did I mention they were both LE 4X4?! They even had the nerve to say things were too far away to reach like window switches and the radio tuning knob because of the big interior.
Nissan makes some beautiful effin cars and the only good thing they had to say about them was the exterior was upscaled from '07 to look a little better than it already did. Everything else they said was hogwash!

Of course they chose the buttugly '07 Tundra Crewmax for the Truck of the year, but the more I read this magazine, the more I feel like they are getting paid to say the stuff they say.
Pick up a copy, BUT DON'T BUY IT, and check out the articles and results' charts to see for yourself.

They must have used the smallest test drivers in the history of automotive review.

screw truckin i stoped buying that magazine. They are like puppets. Whoever pays them they praise. Oh i guess technically they would be whores then. There whores lol. This is the same mag that did things like priase the s-10 and said the isuzi was crap back in the day, even when they are the EXACT SAME TRUCK lol.

Too far to reach? C'mon, I'm 5'7" with short stubby wrestler arms, and I don't have a problem. Maybe they used circus midgets!! That would rock!

As Nissan owners we should demand that they do a direct comparison, independently verified. 08 Titan v 08 Tundra.

Power

Stopping

Value

Price

Reliability

Titan is on top of the Tundra in everything but 'power on paper' - but I'd love to see someone but these d.b.'s run it.

Somebody got pd big bucks!

While the Titan certainly isn't perfect it will def hold its own compared to the others. Let's not forget it was "Truck of the year" when it debuted; that's a heck of an accomplishment when everybody else had been at it for years...

The S-10 and Isuzu were never the same truck. Isuzu and the Chevrolet LUV (light utility vehicle) were the same truck build-ed by Isuzu. The S-10 was build-ed by GM and replaced the LUV.

Smart people should look at the numbers and test drive all the trucks themselves, not listen to what the advertizing money greedy editors have to say about them....and that includes mags who praise Nissans Titan as well. It would take a moron to just go out and buy something because it won COTY or was praised by some magazine guy. Numbers don't lie...except for Nissans underrated HP numbers for the Titan.

I would say its the other manufacturers overrating their numbers:

...for the Hemi 5.7L V-8. Rated at 345 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque, we only managed to pull 247hp from the Ram on the chassis dyno. This low number surprised all of us and explains why...

...[Ford] Triton 5.4L rated at 300 hp, only laid down 263 hp on the dyno...

What disturbs me is the fact that they complain about the titan's plasticy interior, however for the armada, they say, We liked the textured, wrap-around dash. It had some cushion to it, which helped make it feel better than the "plasticy" plastic of the Tundra...AREN'T THE TITAN AND ARMADA INTERIORS THE SAME??! Glad to hear they dont link the tundra's interior..

Also, this doesnt make sense to me either...
The 5.6L in the Nissan feels strong off the line, with Ford and GM trucks you can feel that the engine is tuned to not go wide-open throttle right away, or to retard the timing for a few seconds; not so with the Nissan
I thought the Titan is tuned to only open the throttle body 30% at take off? I guess it was still too much power for them!

They changed the dash on the 08 Armadas. They are no longer the same as the Titan. They look more like the Infiniti style.

You know that article is a bunch of BS when you see the Durango won the SUV of the year. Did they even sit in a Durango? They are aweful!!!! I have seen better interiors on vehicles from the early 1980's than are available on new Dodge vehicles.

Wow, the depth of the reviews of all the trucks mentioned was horrible. The Titan had the long bed which has the advantage of a 37 gallon gas tank (good for people who tow long distances). The gas tank size was not metioned but they noted the obvious fact that a crew cab truck with a long bed was difficult to park. What a poor source of information.

Im not sure exactly what years ,but Gm did build a S10 clone fomr Isuzu labled the Isuzu Hombre.
Only difference was the badge on the trucks.

The Isuzu Hombre was a rebadged Chevy S-10 from 1996-2000, then was discontinued due to lack of sales.:dunno:

It's actually a bit of both. The domestics are overrated while the Titan is underrated. I didn't see any dyno info in that article referring to the Titan but look around on here, it's been done and our trucks put out closer to 340-350 HP. But I have to disagree with the power management statement. The 08 Titans are most definitely not getting full power at WOT....unless maybe that goes away after so many miles, my 08 has nowhere near the off the line power of my 04. Anyone know more about this?
The interiors for....I think they were changed for 07, but may be 08....Titans and Armadas differ now. I think my 08s interior is leaps and bounds better than my 04 was.
