Try turning on the "tool tip" feature which gives you information about the tool in the lower lefthand corner in addition to telling you the tool name when you hover your mouse over an icon. I've taught myself illustrator and photoshop using that technique and googled anything else I couldn't figure out.
I run Architectural Desktop all day so I'm used to complex computer programs so adjusting to other programs isn't so hard, you just have to think like a nerd with an itchy butthole and salary to justify. I haven't fully figured out both programs but can get by. Let me know if you have specific questions and I'll do my best. Fortunately for me I have access to bigger geeks.
