Tuning software

I've been looking for some really good tuning software for the Titan. I have found none! Cipher is too limited. Mail-order tuning is hit and miss, but mostly miss.

I've worked with HP Tuners to tune Corvettes, and that works great. I just wish they would support import vehicles.

Anyone else that's interested please go to the two links below and submit a request for development for the Titan. If we have enough members ask they might take us seriously enough to do it.

Thanks.

Cipher is too limited? Really? What do you need? A professional dyno and Edelbrock software to tune your Titan? You gots some serioius "wants" to need more than Cipher....

Cipher can't manipulate the AFR an timing maps like I want. The timing maps in HP Tuners is a grid of RPMs vs intake vacuum that can be adjusted from -60 to +60 degrees for each data point. Cipher only appears to be doing a bulk -2 to +2 uniformly. You can't get the most out off tuning without the ability to fine tune each area of the timing and air fuel maps. HP Tuners and EFILive both allow for this control and also have the ability to log almost anything the ECU can control. Cipher also can't flash the ECU. HP Tuners and EFILive both can. HP Tuners costs about the same as Up-Rev, but no mail-order required.

It's all about the control.

I don't like the piggy back systems, and I want the kind of tuning flexibility I had with my old Corvette. Cam and tuning yielded a 4.2 0-60 and 380HP RWHP. That's up more than 40HP over stock on an already well tuned engine.

I've also noticed the Titan is setup pretty lean in the lower RPMs, but fairly rich in the upper ranges. Stillen pushes the timing and fuel to a preset value, and it does pretty well, but you can't make any corrections for vehicle mods without sending it back to them. The Stillen option can't account for variance in fuels either.

I like to tune my vehicles almost to the bleeding edge. That makes them more fun to drive.
Almost forgot. Here's the logging dashboard for HP Tuners.

Cipher just isn't there yet. Also, Up-Rev never returned my e-mail when I told them I have a Titan. HP Tuners did and told me to check back with them around the end of the year.

the end user tuner package from uprev is more than you could handle, but they are trying to make it user friendly..
you can fully tune the timing tables, Electronic Throttle Control tables, Base Fuel Schedule tables, and probably atleast 6 other major things i can't remember cause I only get to see the end user package when i go to uprev and see jared tune my car.. what ever he programs into it, the ECU thinks that's the way it always was and doesnt fight it one bit.. be patient, this nissan ecu is 10-20 times more complex than any gm pos..
Cipher is only a data logging software with ability to do some adjustment. The Osiris by Up Rev is the reflash software. They are still working of it to offer end user adjustment in the near future. For a guy like me I would rather let them do everything and I just reflash my ECM instead of me messing up something.:D
From UpRev's site or OSIRIS: "Once we get the information from you regarding your vehicle and modifications, we will provide you with the correct tune to load onto your ECU."

I doubt it would be "more" than I can handle. It's just not what I want. I want to have the control over my vehicles tuning, not someone else. They can't hear the engine knock over email. They can't change my tune when I'm at the track or dyno if I want to subtract 4% fuel and add 3 deg timing to 4000 through 5200 RPMs @ 80% throttle, while leaving the rest of the tuning untouched, and have it to me on the spot.

I'm not saying it's a bad product. It's just not what I'm looking for, but thanks for the feedback anyway. If UpRev does get to the level I'm looking for I'll definitely consider it.

Have you ever looked at the code for a C6 Corvette? It's more complex than any other GM software that I've had a chance to peak at. The computer in the C6 requires 2MB of flash space to hold the base programming. Re-flashing the ECU does make it part of the vehicles native code.

BTW...Nice Cam mod. I'm considering that as one of my next improvements. A turbo or supercharger would really see some serious gains with all that air getting through.

They're definitely working on it, when it will be release I can't say. I know Cobb was working on something but kinda gave up. So if you can wait for Up Rev I'm sure they will have something you are looking for.

I'll be waiting for HP Tuners and EFILive anyway, so waiting is not the issue. If UpRev gives me that flex, I will get it. OSIRIS and HP Tuners are about the same cost. It will be nice if UpRev keeps the price competitive if they upgrade it.

Thanks.
so any of you know when a tuner will be available for the titan?????
stand alone at the moment. Nothing available like HP Tuners for the ECU on any Nissan V8 motor. VH, VK nothing just not enough interest to justify expense.

Wish I had a lottery check I'd go 2door titan with stand alone and manual and oh make it sick SICK. Definately not a daily driver streetable but not daily.
well my question has been answered i guess, just recently got a titan and omg i luv it. just wish there was a tuner available.
