I am the proud new owner of a 2004 LE. It has 164k on it and I love it. I bought it knowing it had a leaky right rear seal. I already did the vent mod right away to save the left side. At any rate I followed links from this site and removed wheel, caliper, rotor and all four bearing retainer bolts. I bought the timken set 10 and seal through Nissan to do the swap. My issue is that I cannot get the axle shaft out to save my life. I've used the slide hammer repeatedly with zero luck. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a retainer in the pumpkin? From what I've read there isn't but I just cannot believe after all I've done that it wouldn't come out. There is a tiny bit of play when you wiggle it but that's it. I'm stumped :eek_surprise:. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Parking brake assembly? That's the only other thing I see in the service manual... see image. Good luck.
