Versacover has indicated that they may design a cover that could require remval of the utilitrack system. I have emailed them that this would be a mistake. It is my contention that a majority of Titan owners are getting the utilitrack system. I emailed them a link to this poll to give them an idea of numbers. Please vote.

Seems like the utility bed is awfully popular with all SE's and LE's. Couldn't find any without it in Minnesota.

I didn't want it, but I'm glad I got it now.

I want to get a cover as well, but I won't take of the utilitrack system for it.

I must say the track system is a pleasure to deal with. First week I had my titan I picked up an entertainment center, coffee table, and end table. It was 15 degrees out (not fun), and maybe took a minute and a half to strap everything in with a tie down - and I had never even held one of the cleats before. Just having the cleats alone is well worth the price of admission IMHO.

Yes I to do not want/will not remove my utilitrack system. I do believe that their product is great, and gives me the most utility. But if I have to remove/reinstall the tracks, this deats the purpose. I hope they make a definate decision soon. If the decide on removal, I will probably go with the fiberglass ARE product.

Exactly my thoughts...I WILL NOT remove something I paid for on the truck to use anyones product. Also, MOSt of the Titans I have seen as well have the system, they might should concentrate on that version first!

I absolutely would not buy something that required me to remove the track system. One of the selling features of the truck was the track system. For a manufacturer to state that they would not make a cover that worked with it shows a serious lack of business sense.

While it is true that Nissan is only making 100K Titan's in the first year, they probably feel that their sales will be insignificant from this market segment, to not look forward and see the future market potential is, in my opinion, stupid.

I will stop my lurking and come out into the daylight to say, that this was THE major innovation that got me looking at this truck.
I was going to trade in my 01 Frontier for a F150 in a year or two, but after the media blitz and a visit to the Philadelphia Auto show, I've got the fever..bad. I will get another close look again the 23rd when I take my truck in for an oil change, I feel a test drive coming on. The truck I want must have the utility bed otherwise I am not interested.

I'll post this elsewhere later..
Does anybody have any advice as far as dealers in the metro Philly area. My visit to Cherry Hill Nissan will be my first, and I consider some of the folks at Nissan of Turnersville a little too slick for my liking. Of course the closer to invoice we get the more I am willing to put up with :jester:

I was seriously considering a Versacover, but if the track has to come off, then forget it. I'll move on to some other product.

I'm looking for a low profile cover that folds up or breaks down. I have found the Fold-a-cover and the K-cover online, but they are not quite what I am looking for. Does anybody have a suggestion?

Well Mark from Versacover responded to the email I sent him. I sent links to this site, and showed him pics of the ARE cover. So we will have to wait and see.
His reply:

Will do…I’ve raised the flag internally and will get back with you as soon as I get any answers whatsoever.

Thanks,

Mark

rrumaner,
Have you heard of anyone purchasing/ordering the Nissan soft cover with the Utilitrac system. I had posed this question a couple weeks ago, but got no reply. I am assuming Nissan's cover can be installed over the utilitrac?

Not yet, but I am sure someone is going to implement one. Nissan makes a cover - it is in the accessories catelogue - but I have no idea how it attaches yet.

Geece1, I bought my Titan from Exton Nissan for $1000 under MSRP at the end of last year. They were eager to sell another truck before the end of the year though. I recieved an email from Metro Nissan, I believe, that said they have a sale or special financing for internet sale

Good news from Versacover

Just got this email from Versacover, sounds like good news. I will also post in a seperate thread.

Versacover response:

Hi Joe,

After many discussions with Steve Brallier (our President and General Manager), below is the development schedule for covers to be made for the Nissan Titan:

Nissan Titan Crew Cab (without Utili-Track System) – May 2004
(Those with Utili-Track Systems would need to remove the Utili-Track to be able to install this cover model)

Nissan Titan Crew Cab Cover (for trucks with Utili-Track System) – July 2004

Nissan Titan Ext. Cab (for trucks without Utili-Track System) – July 2004

Nissan Titan Ext. Cab (for trucks with Utili-Track System) - July 2004

This is a realistic estimate for bringing these products to market. Hopefully their development will be quicker than the schedule above, but as of now, this is the most accurate schedule we can put forward.

The reason for the extra time between the 2 Titan Crew Cab Models (one with the Utili-Track and the one without): Custom, low profile hardware designed to take as little space as possible on the track will need to be designed, developed, and mass produced from scratch. This is why the extra 30-60 days added to the development of the cover for the Crew Cab with the Utili-Track System. Once that hardware is developed it will also work on the Nissan Titan Ext. Cab versions.

As before, we anticipate the price to be the same as for all our other covers. If the shipping promotion of $49.00 to any business address in the U.S. is suspended prior to the release of these covers, VersaCover will honor the $49.00 shipping promotion for those Nissan Titan owners who are on our waiting list. To get your name on this waiting list, simply send us an email through our website at www.versacover.com, and click on the “Contact Us” page. Simply fill out the information required and send it to VersaCover. You will receive a response notifying you that you are on the waiting (“first notify”) list.

As soon as these covers are released, those who are on the VersaCover Titan waiting list will be notified immediately.

Please post this information on the Nissan Titan Forum as this is the latest information on the timing and availability of these products from VersaCover! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone or email at anytime.

Again, thank you for your continued interest in VersaCover!

Regards,

Mark Kidder
