VDC Button Rant

I don't like the fact that it defaults to the on position.

I would rather just turn it on when I need it, like if it's raining or snowing. I live in Phx, AZ and that doesn't happen here all that often.

Then once you turn it off, there is a light on the dash that says "VDC OFF". Well no ****, I just turned the mfer off.

Why I'm :crying: about it is because I was turning left onto a side street in traffic, punch it, then it's bogs like it upshift or something, I had to let off and get back on it again and almost got clipped.

To Nissan (because they got to read this site)- Switch the VDC button around!

IF you feel like calling the people and asking, they have 2 units that may work on the Titan:

Window UP feature w/remote and VDC memory.

http://www.kptechnologies.net/

They are designed for the 350Z but you may wanna check out if they need a beta for the Titan.

That happened to me the other day making a right turn out of a driveway. I thought it was an engine problem or somethin, felt like taken it to the dealer.
So your tell'n me it was the VDC, cause a salesman told me it is safer to dive with the VDC on, the only time you turn it off is when your off-roading. Should I start turning off the VDC to avoid these kind of problems or what?

My truck is not equipped with VDC but my wifes G35 is. I can tell you that I always left it on unless I wanted to do donuts or something. It will save your butt in a ton of cases. It even works with hydroplane, it will apply brakes to the tires getting the traction and get the car slowed down and back into play. If the VDC in the titan is anything like the one in the Infiniti then it is great.

I think VDC is one of those things you hate untill you need it.
Which is easier to do: switch off VDC when you want to goof off or need to bolt out into traffic quick, or trying to turn VDC ON AS YOU START TO SPIN OUT? I think by the time you engaged VDC, you've already hit the guardrail after cruising through some sprinkler runoff on a curve.

Just my $.02

Absolutly! I've had the same experience pulling into traffic from a driveway. I would say this is borderline dangerous.

I hated it as well untill I needed it. Coming home from work one morning I ran through a torrential downpour, I didn't know that there was water pooled up across the road, around a curve no less. I wasn't driving all that fast either, but when I hit that water the VDC kicked in, man it felt weird as heck, the slip light came on as well. I'm almost positive it kept me out of the ditch that morning.
I'll leave mine on all the time, unless I just want to play that is, :teethmast

If VDC came on your tires were slipping when you punched it. Even with it off you may have almost got clipped because you were pulling into too samll a break in the traffic and your wheels were slipping on gravel or hard accelleration.

If VDC came on your tires were slipping when you punched it. Even with it off you may have almost got clipped because you were pulling into too small a break in the traffic and your wheels were slipping on gravel or hard accelleration.

On a differnt note: Have I mentioned how much I LOVE passing traffic while pulling my boat!!!!

I thought the same way when I lived in a dry area. Now that I am in wetter conditions...I find it very useful. Also reminds me not to stomp on the gas.

Wheels spinning = Truck not moving
It was my expieriance that the VDC would accelerate the car as fast as possible. If the road is so slick that the VDC kicks in then if it were off you would be spinning your tires anyways.

As always, you should set your truck up exactly how YOU want.

When VDC kicks on mine I have no gas. Almost feels like an engine kill.

I agree, you don't have time to put it on when you think you are in trouble or might get into trouble...... then it's too late. I think it is a great idea and if I want to horse around, just push the button.

And it does work great in the snow and hydroplaning.

BTW" I have no trouble "bolting" with this truck VDC on or off. :D

So if I turn off the VDC I can roast em?

On a wet on ramp my VDC saved me from sliding off the freeway. It makes more sense to have it on then off. The only times my vdc has caused me to bog down are the times I took off fast enough to spin my wheels. Is it really that difficult to turn off?
