MGT90 and Venom 102 explained

Info was taken by Cory Johnt from many years of 90mm projects from various people and he put it to good use in creating a much needed performance intake for us ( MGT90 ). Props to Peak speed for making this possible also! YOU MUST PURCHASE UpRev !!! Mike at UpRev can help!

MGT90 created by Cory Johnt and Bob at Peak speed shop.
07 and newer OEM intake ported and GM LS intake inlet Graft added to Our OEM Manifold.
90mm TB used = GM
Custom wiring harness needed = provided my Peak speed
Custom tuning needed from UpRev for 90 and 102 both
Great gains over stock manifold.
I personally set and reset world records with this intake.
Overall review it was a great intake with good gains performance wise.
Now the bad.
1. Cold start issue was very bad for me and most ( Not all i am told )
Made applying throttle upon start up a must. This was super annoying after awhile and made my expensive remote starter useless.
2. Tuning was a bit of a pain. An average tuner would not be able to correct all the issues. We are lucky to have people like Randy Baker to assist us in this area. ( Venom 102 also requires special tuning and UpRev! )
3. Cold start issue also delayed gear engagement. If the truck was not warmed up on cold winter days you couldn't even shift it into drive. warm up time could be as long as 10 minutes. This was a major pain.

Venom 102 created by myself and Randy Baker along with Bob at Peak speed shop.

I loved the performance i got from the MGT90 but hated the issues. So i decided to work off the idea of the MGT90 and make it better. For performance and drive ability.
I had bob graft the same LS neck onto the OEM intake and perform his very own porting process to port a LS 90 to 102 for the GM people. This allows us to bolt on a Nick Williams or any Fly by wire 102mm Throttle Body made for a GM application. The same wiring harness is used from the MGT90 so no worries there. New gasket from Peak Speed shop is required.
Cool factor is for the people who already purchased a MGT90 they can upgrade at peak speed for a fraction of the cost since the LS graft is already performed! Just purchase the Nick Williams TB and gasket from Peak Speed , Have bob port your existing neck graft and install! Randy Baker has exclusive tuning for this setup and make the transition very smooth.

NO MORE COLD START ISSUES!!! This was the main focus as well as more HP and TQ over the MGT90 . This intake has removed all the hard starting and extended warm up times. For myself and Jon Long. It flat out works as good as OEM! Just took a 1800 mile trip from northern NY to VA and averaged 20 MPG !!!! No Joke! Tuning is essential for this!
Gains over the MGT90 are good! Not huge but what we expected! Data logs show more air being flowed and track times and 0-60 logs show the same!! Its the Future for a serious Nissan Mod crazy person.
With this intake i re set my own world record in the 1/4 from 12.78 to 12.55
Also I now have the new World record for fastest nissan titan 1/8 mile period ! at 7.90 . This intake works!
So that is the info i have for everyone on the comparison. If you buy the MGT90 you will love the performance!!! Just a gamble on the cold start issues.
The Venom 102 will not disappoint! If you have the extra $$$ go for it. Post results and pics for everyone to see!
Props go to all the guys over the years who have modded our intakes and build 90mm setups to give us an aftermarket upgrade option! I take very little credit for the idea of a 102mm intake. Many said it was too much for our VK. I have proven its more than perfect! This intake combo can be purchased at Venom 102 Package and Components : Peak Speed Shop, Boosting Horsepower...Adding Style!

Facts that are publicly available for reference.

366rwhp/401rwtq MGT90

350rwhp/383rwtq VNm102 Same dyno, same correction factor and both cold days to eliminate variables.

Went from 12.78 to 12.55 in the quarter.

Same Track Napierville.

[email protected] was in -87 DA
60ft 1.76
1/8 8.09 @84

[email protected] was in a -2200 DA
60ft 1.70
1/8 7.9 @ 85.36

So all of this is just from the manifold 102mm opening and 102 TB , and none of it is a contribution from the nearly -2100 DA difference?

This is legitimacy, not a pissin match. I'm being ''professional''.

My records , Data and track times speak for themselves Cory. I am sorry when you designed the MGT90 you failed to let the public know that the intake was not oem drive able for the majority. Did you tell Bob at Peak speed you have to apply throttle to get the truck to even start after you install the MGT90? What about cold weather use of the MGT90? The people i know who purchased your creation had a very hard time getting their truck to start and the extended warm up times were crazy. Like 10 minutes before i could even shift into drive without stalling.Multiple times the MGT90 stranded me. I worked Hand in Hand to build ROM's to get the MGT90 to work as best we could with UpRev's Pro tuners. 2 years i struggled with issue after issue and i had enough.

The Venom 102 is 100% OEM drive able. I have tested this intake setup for over 4,000 miles and in temps as cold as 20* so far. ZERO issues. MY trip from Northern NY to Virginia to visit one of my Sponsors ( Jon LONG who drove Venom and can attest to its performance with the 102 first hand and who also purchased a Venom 102 for his own beast! )and Brother. I averaged 20 MPG in my Fuel economy map. Venom 102 rocks on the track and highway. I tested this intake out to make sure there would be no surprises like on the MGT90.

On the other subject. The dyno i use had a major system crack a few months after the last dyno of the MGT90. All data was lost by them for all their customers. The dyno had to be re calibrated and a whole new software uploaded. This is why you see a HP variance between the last 90 and 102. You can think i actually lost HP if you want lol.
Facts- my times ran with the MGT90 in -2000 DA were never close to a 12.7 flat
Runs with the Venom 102 in -2000 Da hit 12.5 several times
My 1/8 mile with the MGT90 in my best DA never broke under 8.0
With the Venom 102 i broke the world record ...yes not the USA record...the WORLD record 1/8 mile at 7.906...sorry World trumps just the USA Cory
Not to mention with the added bottom end i hold the WORLD RECORD of best 60FT of any Titan PERIOD. Beating all the NYTRO an even the TURBO Trucks!! Time slip proven Cory! ...wait must of been the DA or Down hill start lmao

My PB 0-60 times in the USA CORY with the 90 was 3.89
My PB 0-60 with the Venom 102 is currently 3.71

So you can look at the DYNO info all you want young man. I have proven my intake. I dont need any approval from you or anyone to say the Venom 102 is amazing.

BTW Mr. Cory Johnt....so everyone knows how many times have you actually dragged your truck???? I only have almost 200 runs this summer alone and over 22 years racing. Not to mention 11 years racing a Titan Platform. So the next time you question a professional maybe you should actually go earn some respect by racing instead of GOOGLING all your knowledge. All this from a guy who couldn't even install his own rear diff. How many times did you call me for info??? DOZENS !!! lol...... So here is some info for you. STOP posting your dyno slip of your 377RWHP the entire community including Ben knows you are no where near a real even 320 RWHP. Un Camed and claiming numbers so outrageous my eyes bleed. Best camed Titans around the world push an average of 340-360. Wait you were on a hub dyno right lol....Maybe i should find some side street hub dyno and show everyone a 390RWHP dyno sheet and claim its from the 102!!! NOPE i am as honest as you get Cory. I showed all my sheets, time slips, and data during my 6 year build. So take some time and reflect on who you really are. Or what you really are. JEALOUS of My families hard work and dedication to the Nissan Titan.

There you go on one of your crazy tangents again.

People in the titan community already know I'm crazy and full of **** lol. Since 2008.

You just made it public on how dilusional you are, asylums offer sponsor stickers too.

don't forget to pick up your Internet warrior badge of honor on the way out.

Cold Start issues have No bearing with the opening of the Intake Manifold. I have run every combination of 90mm TB, Adapter Plate, Wiring Harness, with Multiple Tunes with stock IM and 90mm IM and still had Cold Start issues. I have not tried the $1500 102 Combo, but right now with the 90mm IM and PGM (Original 90mm Kit) and my 13.18 tune from 2012, cold start is rare for me right now.

This is my experience on The Freak.

Lastly, Walt you are NOT a God of Titan owners. Get that out of your head. Your eyes may bleed with my BS, but people have gone blind deaf and retarded listening to your grandstanding.

no one is jealous...none of us have enough stickers to compete anyway.

I'd rather not have a track time and have a inflated dyno...but at least I don't ban friends and family of members who question your BS.

Don't worry I will show you later how inept you are.

This 102 kit will solve all the issues. Performance is great and having the stock driving abilities back is just awesome. No more worries about anything.
I like the performance of my MGT90. That I had zero issues with that part of the kit. I just knew the VK could handle a bit more air ( 12mm ) opening larger. And I could fix known 90mm issues with some changes.
Anyone who buys the MGT90 will understand. Brian Falkner is having issues with his. Thor had issues and if I remember lost HP over the stock manifold with his MGT90. Thor can chime in please to explain. may have been exhaust issues at the time of dyno too. Ben Pack had horrible cold start issues. we tried everything to fix it for the both of us. I even purchased a $400 LS2 TB to see if the different calibrations would help. NOPE. Tried drilling the dole in the plate!! Nope....
So I also tried to fix the known 90mm issues myself with no avail.

So the only answer was to start over with peak Speed and see what I could build. The end result with a lot of help from Randy Baker and UpRev is the Venom 102.

37L1, i say this as a fellow titan member with utmost professionalism and from many people who agree but won't say it...

Again with your moderating...Seriously...? "HEED" Deez Nutts. Don't worry about banning me, I'm not coming back. If i wanted to spend $50 for a premium membership I'd go look at porn, oh wait... that sounds strangely identical to the premium section of this site.

I wish to most of the rest of you happy modding and carry on furthering the platform to the best of your abilities. You don't need a track time or a dyno or a buttload of discounts and sponsors to prove that you know what the hell you're doing as long as you are confident and enjoy doing it. The rest is internet bull****.

Lastly is my grandstand... I have probably contributed the most picture heavy and detailed reviews and writeups for the performance side of the titan here in the last 4yrs. Wasting my time to make comprehension idiot proof, and what do i get... a ****ing warning... suck it. two times.

I'm out!

So if u want to go off dyno results we can take ur numbers Cory and take 6% away that puts u at 354 and 406 and that's still high but again dyno numbers don't mean **** when racing u can put down 500 and still be slow as ****, go race get some track times but Cory ur dyno numbers are inflated, no stock cam Titan is putting down those numbers, most cammed Titans aren't putting down those numbers I have been in walts truck it is fast no doubt, 102 works, 90 was a pain in the *** for cold starts, end of story, I guarantee there are more with the issue that let on also, I support Walt I have been in the community a long time, I give kudos to all the guys that try new **** and most the time I'll try it if it works or look for ways to improve ****, let's quit having **** wars and bickering and just have a good conversation
