purchase a Vibrant 2-1 merge collector that is 2.5'' inlets with a single 3'' oulet. Buy some ebay self aligning Vbands, and have them welded up.
In that car, 2.5'' is fine, I wouldn't bother going with 2.25.
get you a borla XR1 oval muffler 3'' inlet/outlet or even the Vibrant muffler, those are nice too for the money.
If you want to retain the dual exhaust, then do the above with the Y pipe. Then purchase a second 2.5'' x 3'' Vibrant Y pipe, flip it around and run the Y section out the back and either go straight to outlet tips, or run two Vibrant Ultra quiets.
The car will sound incredible either way.
I had a real Japan made Apexi N1 on my Titan and it sounded good. I had headers, 2.5'' B pipes into the Y pipe mentioned above. Also had two bottle resonators before the Apexi muffler too.
Don't over complicate it or over spend on parts and piping with X or H pipe, which will also require extra muffler, welding time etc..
The VK56 no matter what its in, was destined to be used with a Borla XR1 oval muffler hands down.
Also, give yourself about 18'' of secondary B pipe length until the Y pipe, try to make them equal length. After the Y pipe, you'll want to try and get 10'' of piping before the muffler. If not, its not a huge deal, but just things learned over the years.
Vbands are cheap on ebay, make sure they are self aligning, they will make everything much easier to work with on your car. For track outings run Open Y pipe. The Vk56 sounds terrifying uncorked.
As for X pipes, the problem is can't get them close enough to the header collectors on the Titan, they are good for reducing decibel however. But, for simplicity, i'd just stick to the Y pipe setup. Its proven effective.
If anything, read what Tony from Motordyne talks about with Y pipes, or Sasha from SG Motorsports/On Point Dyno. Both use Y pipe systems, make tons of power.
