Fellas,

I have been experiencing something that seems a little off...

While cruising around 40 MPH at around 1500 RPM i get this weird lag on flat ground. I am usually only on it 1/4 to the floor when this happens. When i am trying to get up to highway speeds it takes 3/4 pedal to get it out of this weird lag.

This is the only time i am experiencing a lag in power. I have no idea what it could be since it is getting fuel at adequate pressure and i just replaced the filter in the gas tank a couple of months ago. I also regularly put a whole can of sea foam through my gas tank every other fill up.

Is this a normal hiccup with the titan? Or is it a fuel filter/pump/injector problem ???

I also had this weird though that i could be torque converter, but nothing is out of the ordinary with the drive terrain.

Let me know if any of you have experienced this before, or if you might know the problem.

Model year and miles?

Depending on how severe, it's probably just the normal vehicle operation. The engine tends to lug a bit when you are just cruising, and mine will do the same thing if I'm around 40, and want to merge. It takes a bit of throttle to "force" a downshift and go. Sometimes it was annoying, but either I got use to it, and automatically give enough throttle to downshift, or it may have improved when I added UpRev, which, by changes to the torque tables, gives firmer shifts (sometimes referred to as the UpRev line pressure mod).

I don't know for certain, but based on reading other similar threads in the past, it seems to me the trucks with the standard 2.94 gearing may do a bit more lugging than those with 3.36 rears (like my Pro4X). Even so, I have experienced what I think you are feeling.

Good luck!

I have a mild problem like that, just a slight dead spot if coasting about 40 and not pushing the pedal. It started only after a high performance Level 10 VCB was installed. But when I put the pedal down, it goes! All else is well, no reason for me to mess with what is working!

Yeah that area 1500 rpm and 40ish don't seem to do well with the Titan, seems to be kind of a dead spot in the gearing, with Uprev I don't notice it as much, but its still there.

Check your Transmission Fluid level asap though.

Yeah, there is a thread on here about a similar problem when folks try to accelerate to get onto an interstate highway or something.

http://www.titantalk.com/forums/titan-general-discussion/367410-scary-engine-hesitation-sometimes-when-accelerating.html

There is a randomly occurring dead spot in the acceleration where the engine loses power . . . . . . . . . followed by the engine kicking in, and then you end up accelerating too much because you kept depressing the accelerator pedal.

It is scary if you are trying to merge with an 18-wheeler going 75 MPH.

The fact that it is not consistently repeatable (does not happen every time) makes it even worse.

Bottom line: YOU don't control your engine; your truck's computer does.

It's that drive-by-wire crap that was done to meet fuel efficiency and safety requirements.

Personally, I'd like to have a cable running from my accelerator pedal to my throttle body like it did when we were in control of our vehicles.

[/end rant]
