Crawled under the truck to clean up my exhaust tip a bit and noticed this. Doesnt seem too common around here. Axle seals yes, pinion no. Must be pretty decent if its being flung around by the drive shaft.

34k on the truck, warranty is still there. Even If I didnt have warranty I wouldnt be too upset about it, pinion seal is nothing too hard/big deal.

That would be covered under the powertrain warranty anyways.

mine did that 4 times until Nissan replaced my whole rear. What caused this was the pinion bearing, then the rear started to whine and i complained to Nissan. My truck had 98K, out of warranty but still they replaced it since I had a record of the issue.

Ya when the fluid gets low is probably when mine will start whining. You can actually see a drop forming in the pic, and lots of areas on the underside are covered in it....wish the rear end had a dip stick to check fluid level.

just remove the upper plug and see the level, but just take it to the dealer to replace the seal. The job should only take about an hour to replace the seal

Oh ya mines way worse lol, I wouldnt even worry about yours yours looked like it leaked a little and then clogged itself back up. Mines soaked

No, and I didnt know gweasel was in an accident. I just think its an undersized rear end for all the torque of the motor.
