I did a few searches and did not see anything on this, forgive me if I missed it.

My goal is to get an '05 Titan in the spring of '05. For me I know I want a King Cab and I'm amazed at how many pics I see here of Crew Cabs; so I just got to wondering what is the breakdown for owners here.

ALSO- feel free to vote for what one you would buy if you are not an owner yet...

It might be good to set up a poll to do this.

I originally was looking at a KC, just because I wanted to save some money. In fact the last model I test drove before buying my truck was a SE KC. At the time, the dealer didn't have any CC on the lot equipped like I wanted, but as I was pulling in there was a demo CC sitting there. So I checked it out, even moved the front seats all the way back and climbed into the rear, sure enough, plenty of leg room. Coming from a 2 door SUV and a Chevy 1500 KC before the Titan, I really wanted something that would be less of a hassle and more comfortable for passengers. The CC has the advantages of a full size 4 door SUV and also a full size truck, albeit a somewhat shorter bed. The CC also alows me to fill up the interior with cargo that I rather not leave in the weather, and also lets my 95lbs dog lay down in the back with plenty of room. The only advantage the KC has is the added bed length and the price. Nissan did do a great job with the KC doors that swing all the way open, so either choice is good.

Have KC,but now,I wish CC.

I have a KC XE 2WD.I was set to get a CC XE,but I waited too long, and the one I was looking at sold(I wanted Side Curtain airbags,an uncommon option).Well,I was hot to buy,and I hadn't gotten my income tax return(the XE CC is about $2200 more) yet,so when a Red Brawn KC turned up,I bought it.In truth, the KC still makes more sense,I have used the extra length in the bed(plywood),but I would get the CC if I had to do it over because of the "family trip" possibilities of the CC(my wife prefers the Pilot SUV for trips).
I see the KC lead the poll,I would have guessed there were more CC's.Either is a good choice, the KC backseat is adult usable for a couple of hours, and flexible teenager usable for long trips, and great for grocery getting.Charlie

I went with the Crew because of family situations. I dont have kids now...but am planning on it in the future. The extra room back there is amazing. It's weird to look back there and see all of it. It's like looking back into part of a large SUV.

I agree. the backseat on KC is fine for adults when going across town but you wouldn't want to be back there on a cross-country jaunt.

It's just me and the wife, no kids or pets, so the KC fits us perfectly. Most of the time the lower seat is raised and we use the back for cargo space. We use the grocery bag hooks a lot.

Most people seem to be more concerned with comfort than using this vehicle as a truck. If you plan on putting anything in the bed go for the KC. If not you may as well buy a SUV. I wonder how may would still buy a CC with a three or four foot bed? Seems to work for ford...that explorer thing seems to be selling well.

SUV's are limited to what can be placed inside them. You have to take out/fold down the seats, get it all ready, etc. I wanted the CC so I can put stuff in the box w/o having to worry about getting carpets dirty. Then, if I have to take a road trip with more than 2 people, everyone will be comfy cozy in the back. It's the best of both worlds. :)

I don't think that's very true. If all I was concerned about was comfort or passenger space, then, like you said, I would have bought an SUV. I had an SUV, and it just isn't practical for hauling certain types of cargo. There isn't much that won't fit in the CC's bed. I've hauled lumber a number of times, and just lower the gate. I had a short bed 1500 and had to do the same thing, so hardly any difference. Now I have the ability to seat 4 (even 5) adults comfortably and haul a fair amount of cargo in the bed. With your logic, why should we even have KC, why not just regular cabs? Remember the crew cab design has been out far longer than the KC or extended cab. And if it were a 3 foot bed, I would have gone with a different brand of truck with a more suitable bed (at least 5 feet.) The CC's passenger space and bed is a good mix of both the SUV and truck world in MHO. Something I neglected to mention ealier is that for those of us without a 2nd car, the CC helps. If I owned a passenger car along with the Titan, then it would maybe change my choice.

Interesting, the replies and votes are confirming what I was suspicious of; there are a lot of Crew Cabs out there. By the looks of the numbers you CC people are going to remain clearly in the majority.

For me I'm going KC because I need the bigger bed and as I'm a family of one, and my two cars are both 2-seaters, the KC is going to feel like a HUGE 4-door to me...

Yeah the KC works well for a single guy, I made the same choice. I use it to transport my friends around and sometimes haul stuff in the bed at the same time. My personal opinion is the the KC is the best compromise between truck and SUV/car, since you don't sacrifice cargo space to haul people or people space to haul cargo like an SUV. And it cost less than most any suv to buy and own.

Well I wanted the room of the Crew Cab. It's the biggest thing i've every seen in a truck. Nothing comes close. What swayed me though was the bed length. After all, I was purchasing this thing to haul all kinds of toys (quads, Harleys, dirt bikes, skis, large boats, campers, etc) and I just couldn't see giving up a foot of bedspace for the extra back seat legroom. Even though i'm married my kid is only 9 and she has no problems back there. In fact I can sit in the back seat and i'm fine. Leg room is sufficient. I just think the back seat sits too straight up and down. If you're not worried about bed length and can afford the exta coin get the CC. If you need the bed length then the KC is the way to go and the interior room is nothing to be ashamed off. Biggest KC i've seen inside.

I got a KC, because I need the longer bed for dirt bikes and other stuff.

I don't have a family, my girlfriend always rides shotgun, and I don't sit in the back so I could care less about rear seat comfort, heh heh.

I think KC's look better too. CC's are great for comfort but they look too "suv-ish" for my tastes. I like the proportion of a KC truck. But, it's all about what you need...

I bought the king cab although I was not sure if I had made the right decision because I have 2 kids. In the end, more room in the bed for my dirt bike, mountain bikes and gear won out. :) My 9 year old fits fine behind the wife, although its a little tight behind me. I also like the look of the KC better.

I guess in hindsight maybe I should have made this poll more like this...

What configuration would you like best?
- 6' bed with King Cab
- 8' bed with King Cab
- 5' bed with Crew Cab
- 6' bed with Crew Cab

It seems there are a bunch of people who took the best solution available but would have preferred more choices. For me the 6' bed with King Cab is just perfect, but it seems a lot of you have families and need a full size bed.

Not a problem. I would have bought a regular cab but I didn't see one available. The crew cab design has been out a lot longer than a KC? Maybe on big three but not with any import and I don't even look at domestics anymore because their quality is job zero.

BTW Hows your training going? Hope you're kicking some butt. I really envy you in those choppers.

CC has been out a lot longer on fullsize trucks, which the Titan is. True the king cab on the compact Nissans/Datsuns has been around for a long time. Training is going no where right now, I'm still waiting for flight training to start. I too envy those choppers. :)

Clearly I'm not in that group.
I'm interested in the Titan because of:
- past Nissan truck ownership experiences
- 305 hp
- 379 ft-lbs
- 9,500 towing capacity
The most interior room of ANY full size truck is the reason why CC makes true logical sense!
I test drove the Escalade EXT truck and Titan back to back before purchasing mine......... No comparison........... You get the best of both worlds and keep 20 grand in your pocket with the Nissan.

I'm surprised you're here! With your vehicle line up, I thought you'd be willing to wait for Honda's SUT(Truck) to come out.
The vehicle at the autoshow seemed very close to real world production ready.
But then again, who could resist the Titan? I've been buying Toyota products in the past and I'm here with a Nissan.

Keep in mind I have owned the following Nissan pickups:
'86.5 SE-V6 4x4 KC, sold at 188,000 miles, dead at 269,000
'95 XE-V6 4x4 KC, still driving at 125,000

I finally decided my next truck was going to be a full size, and after that decision was made the Titan was the only choice. The Honda SUT will be a great vehicle, but for towing and for my type of snowfall (F'ing major) I want a real truck as in a ladder frame and a real 4WD system not an AWD.

The SUT will essentially be a Pilot with an open bed. Friends of mine have a Pilot, it is great, but it ain't no manly monster, and that's what I really want.

I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old and I bought the crew cab. The length of the bed in the crew cab is more than enough for me and I wanted the extra room. Also, my Great Dane can travel in A/C comfort when she needs a ride.

Recently married w/no kids yet. KC looks better and sportier to me. I like a pickup to have the appearance of the bed being longer than the cab. The ugly Ford F150 Supercrew and the Explorer Sport Trac are the extreme examples. KC still has plenty of room for kids, cargo, etc. What sealed the deal are the cool doors that open flat and a few thousand less $$. I'll wait until my unborn kids are older then I will consider a CC. Everyone's situation is different so that's the beauty of offering both. I think Dodge only offers a regular cab and the CC (no KC).
