What does your coolant temperature gauge on the dash show after the engine heats up?

The cabin heater in my 2015 Titan with about 13,000 miles heats up within a mile after cranking and leaving the house. The cabin gets toasty hot after a few miles.

But I noticed that the temp gauge barely moves---even at the end of a 70 mile trip on the interstate at 70 MPH.

The gauge only moves maybe 3/8 inch up from cold.

It gets less than half way to the little thermometer symbol in the middle of the dial.

Is that normal?

Or do I have a gauge or sending unit problem?

Or possibly an engine coolant thermostat problem?

Thanks.

Well, this is embarrassing!!!

The gauge I was looking at is the automatic transmission fluid temperature gauge.

I did not see the coolant temperature gauge. It, by the way, is working just fine.

You can tell I am new to my Titan and still learning things. I never owned a vehicle with an automatic transmission fluid temperature gauge before.

When I saw the "C" and "H" and the little thermometer in the middle, I just assumed it was the coolant temperature gauge.

Y'all know about assuming---right?

Thanks all for responding and showing me the light.

If you pretty much immediately get on the interstate in cold weather and don't do a lot of shifting your trans gauge won't move much. At least mine hasn't/doesn't. Soon as I got off the interstate and it had to shift the temp steadily climbed to where it normally sits.
