The main difference in the few miles we have put on is how it shifts rapidly and smoothly while getting up to speed. Don't need to floor it. If this is how it will drive, then they have done an exceptional job with the drivetrain; our 18 Pro-4X was no slouch at all, however. It is also noticeably quieter than our 18 Pro-4X. The ride quality is a bit softer due to the Grabbers vs. the Duelers we had, but then the tire pressures were low at delivery (32 on one tire and 33 on the others). Aired all tires up to 36psi cold and the ride firmed up just enough. So far liking it; in summary, not a drastic change from our previous truck.
I filled @3+ gallons of gas at Costco earlier this afternoon and do miss the bugle melody associated with the previous truck; this one does not sing at all. A couple of other changes - no Utilitrack channels on the bed floor anymore plus no fender whip antenna on the truck. Did not even notice these omissions at the dealership.
Separately, Nissan does add a bit of gingerbread on these trucks from the factory. For example - Off road protection package, bed assist grip, lighted kickplates. The Pro-4X mud flaps are a bit gaudy, but I will get used to them. I preferred the plain black mud flaps the 18 came with. The step rails are alright, but at $1050 sticker, I am not sure. I preferred my charcoal Nissan step rails; they are presently available for dealer pick-up at @$350 plus taxes during the Nissan accessory sale.
However, the overall deal was super and saved me a trip out of state, @1100 miles and at least a couple of days. The dealership (Wright Nissan, Wexford) was wonderful to work with. No verbal discussions, the deal was fixed via 4 emails. Then the test drive, look everything over and no hassles during pick-up. Highly recommended.
PS. One other notable difference I failed to mention above based on the limited driving is the solid engine braking on the new truck. We have a ~1/4-mile section where we go down a gentle grade from a stoplight and almost all cars put their brakes on mid-way as they either go too fast in the beginning or irrespective of the speed, the cars tend to exceed the 30-mph (practically ~40 mph) speed limit on the stretch of road. I don't speed down and piss some folks off in the 30 second stretch but do need to apply brakes on an occasion as I am ~40 at the end. The couple of times we have gone down the same stretch in the new truck, the truck actually slowed down on the stretch, and I had to add some throttle to maintain @40 mph. Minor issue, but positive in my books for the drivetrain in the 2023.
