What tires should I get?

I'm going to be installing a Rough Country 6" lift in the next two weeks, and I am wanting to get some tires ordered soon so my truck doesn't look ridiculous with the stock tires.

Here is my criteria or wish list:

They will be going on the stock 20" rims
Looking for an AT tire, the lighter the better
I would really like to keep the stock mudflaps installed
I don't want any rubbing issues, willing to do pinch weld mod if I have too.

Any suggestions at brands and what sizes I should be looking at would be much appreciated!

I do not have the big tow package or off road package so I have the highway gearing.

I really like the Cooper Zeons but not sure about sizing.

Stock rims will help you a lot on avoiding the pwm or mudguard removal, (my guess is a 34.5x12.4 LT295/60R20 Nitto Terra Grappler A/T would fit w/o rubbing on a 6" bracket lift with stock rims), but with the 2.94 gearing you're likely going to have torque converter lockup delay into overdrive and maybe dropping out of overdrive on just slight hills, [My Titan has the TC delay for lockup, even with 33.98" Terra's, and the 3.36 gears]. The 4.10 front gears were supposed to be out, but I want 3.73's anyway. So my next tires will likely be 33.5" maximum, which I ran before without the issue.

I would consider not lifting as much so you can use a smaller diameter tire, and maybe get aftermarket rims that stick out some, because that helps give more of an aggressive look than an taller A/T on a stock width/offset rim. Upgrading to some 17's will enable you to have more sidewall, and that will also help give it a more aggressive truck look.

I am wanting to stick with a narrower tire as they are better in the snow and I don't really want them sticking out of the fenders. Also I will be sticking with the 20" wheels as I already sold my 18" rims to move to them.

Do you think it will be a huge issue with the torque converter and overdrive problem your talking about? Its kinda hard to go back now after already ordering the lift, although there is a chance it hasn't shipped out yet.

Are the stock tires on the 20" rims 32"?

Stock tires are 33". You could always try a LT275/65R20, which is a little shorter and narrower than the 295, (about a 34x11), and fairly narrow. Then if you have any TC issues get the gears once they actually come out.

Or just return the lift, and get something like this 3" to 4" package ... PRG Products which will look good with a 33" and ride/handle way better than a bracket lift, especially one using using stock struts.

I was able to successfully cancel my order for the lift. I think I am going to go with the route you suggested. A 34x11 sized tire sounds like a happy medium for what I am looking for in a tire. Is 11" the width of the stock tires?

Yes, all of the stock tires except the '04-'07 XE are very close to 11". The first number indicates what to expect the width to be in millimeters.

The 265/70R18 are slightly less than 10.5", the 285/70R17 are slightly more, at 11.22, and the 275/60R20 are 10.83", at the sidewall, (by calculation). Some brands will vary a bunch, so calculating doesn't always work out, (i.e. 275/60R20's 275 mm width divided by 25.4 should be 10.83, but the SRA are 11"). Also, tires on wider rims tend to get wider at the sidewall, and the spec sheet will tell you what width rim was used for the specs. So if a tire is 11" on an 8" rim, it will likely be 11.2" on a 8.5" rim. But, even though the tire is 0.2" wider, the rim is 0.5" wider, so the tire sticks in/out past the rim a little less on a wider rim. The tread width can also vary between the brand and models, but usually aren't listed in the spec sheets.
