I've got a new '07 Titan and haven't towed with it. I love the truck, but have been spoiled Dodge with a Cummins as my prior rig...

I'm going to haul a 66 Mustang from Las Vegas on a Uhaul car hauler. The car is right around 3000# and the trailer 2000#. Any guesses on what I should expect for gas mileage and performance - there are a few long stretches heading north through the Nevada wastelands...

Thanks for any input.

Will tow that weight fine and i'd say around 9 or 10mpg.

I haul 3100 on a regular basis.
I can get pretty good mileage if I keep my foot out of it.
Keeping my foot in it I can still get 12.5 to 13.5.
I saw 16.5 once when running empty for 400 miles at the speed limit. I saw 14.5 once running loaded for 400 miles at the speed limit. My averages are more than acceptable considering my previous tow vehicle only got 12 empty on the same roads with no trailer.

Don't tow in 5th(OD) gear, and on hills and grades, don't wait for the trans to downshift to 3rd, you go ahead and do it.
It's a gas engine, and made to tow at 3500-3800 rpm if need be, so don't worry about that type of rpm on hills.
Enjoy...

Thanks for the input everyone.

One more question then, with the empty (2000#) trailer. Can I tow it in 5th/OD on the flats?

Thanks again. I'll everyone know how it handles the desert heat and what the MPG are. I've gotten 15.4 - 15.8 every tankful (hand calculated), always a mix of highway and around town driving. It now has 2000 miles.

Yes, I tow a 3000 lb trailer and run 5th on flat ground. Learn to know when the torque converter unlocks in 5th gear, when it does then downshift to 4th gear. The rpm will almost be the same, but runing in 4th gear with the TC locked will keep the trans cooler.
