I have an opportunity to buy an older model (2005) and need to know if it's even a possibility to use it. Or if any parts can be used.

Pretty much anything 2004-2015 will work. Depends on whether or not you have/want the utility box or utilitracks as to which bed you choose. Beyond that, no difference in shape or mounting except the top of the tailgate changed in 2013 to a wider top across the tailgate. That doesn't affect anything except camper shells and hard tonneau covers, though.
