This is the first automatic transmission that I've owned.
My idle (fully warmed up) is usually 1100-1300rpm when in drive,
with the brake applied.
Is it normal for the idle to be that high?
What's your idle while stopped, with the tranny in 'drive'?

I think you need an adjustment. You should be able to idle down the road at about 50 MPH. Mine runs about 6 or a little over.

mine idles at around 1100 also. I have to be extremly careful backing out of the garage. I need to turn the wheel immediatley to avoid clipping the side of the door opening. When I let off the break it lurches back sometime because of the high idle. I am going to have them check it when I go in for 1K oil change.

Mine idles at maybe 1100 when first started cold, but after driving a bit settles down to about 600.

If your idle is that high in gear after the truck is warm, it definitely needs adjustment.

When warm, I can shift from Park to Drive and the vehicle barely moves, even with my foot off the brake.
