Wheel offsset

Im going through and really trying to figure out this whole offset before I purchase a set of wheels for my truck.

I have a 2005 CC SE/LE package with a level kit. I currently run the factory 18x8 rims with Nitto Terra Grappler 275/70r18 tires. I was wanting to buy a set of aftermarket rims that look good but function right as well. I will go back to the same tire if thats needed or I was thinking of going to the 295/75r18 if I could.

The factory backspace is about 5.5". That should be your main concern. You can do the pinch weld mod if it rubs. Before I bought mine, I read dozens of threads by NorCal 4x4. There is a formula to calculate the backspace by using the wheel width and the offset.
Stock backspacing is 5", not 5.5". Stock wheel is 8" wide with +25mm offset (1") so that means the mounting surface is 5" away from the truck side of the wheel.

If you don't feel like watching the video here is the TL;DR:

Wheel measurements in inches, followed by offset in mm (25mm= ~1")
0 offset: mounting surface is exactly center of wheel.
Positive (+) offset: mounting surface is away from vehicle.
Negative (-) offset: mounting surface is toward vehicle.
You have to add 1" to the wheel width to accommodate for the lip. 8" + 1"= 9"...divided by 2= 4.5"..+ 25mm= 5.5" This is according to this forum and Discount tire when I purchased my wheels.

Edited.. That doesn't mean they are right, but it makes sense to me. Just trying to help! Good luck!!
