this is my first experience with an oil pressure gauge. All previous vehicles have had only the idiot light. My (2004 titan) oil pressure guage wasn't working. With the ignition switch on, engine running or not, the needle sat about 2/3 the way between low and high. I just replaced the sending unit. Now, the guage shows the following:

First photo, Ignition off or ignition on, engine not running (as it should look). Second photo, Engine idling. Third photo, engine revved up, any speed above idle.

My question is, Should the needle sit in that one spot (photo 3) whether the engine is turning 1500 RPMs or 4000 RPMs? It always looks like photo number 3 when driving at any speed.

I've got a 10 Titan with 96,000 on her. Mine sits dead in the middle. I know you have an 04 and the gauge setup is a little different. Pic 1 tells me your truck is blowed up. Pic 2 tells me it is fixing to blow up. Pic 3 tells me that you are good.

OH jerry, what are we going to do with you???

the 5.6 has a lot of oil pressure.
@ idle anything above 14 psi is normal.
@ 2000 anything above 43 psi is normal (something like that)
@ 6000 anything above 57 is normal

now my titan idles at 27-40 depending on how hot the oil is and ambient temps.
above 2000 it is between high 70`s and 90`s.

the problem is stats like this get ignored when posted bc it`s not about flares/lifts, leds

to the OP, did you buy a Nissan sending unit, or aftermarket?
I suggest you get the nissan part if you haven`t already done so.

Today i did a diagnostic test using the cluster odometer display. On the sweep test, all dials and guages EXCEPT the oil pressure went fully to the max and back to zero. The oil pressure guage only went 80% of the way to max. So, it seems that my oil pressure guage is displaying lower than actual pressure. Using that as a guidline, then my oil pressure reading is almost half way on the guage, higher than shown in picture 3.

Pic 1 tells me your truck is blowed up.

Pic 1 shows the guage with the engine not running. I think your brain is blowed up...lol
