Does anybody know which exhaust system is louder between the JBA vs Banks?

Never heard the two side by side, but I'd have to say hi-flo cats & bullet glasspacks......

Seriously, you want musclecar sound, that's the ticket!

But of the prettyboy preboxed units, I'd say the Banks has the decibel edge....
I'm sure Toomnymods can answer this question. He's had both of them I do believe. My understaning is the Banks is the loudest of the two, but the JBA has more performance.:dunno:

Yeah I also have had both. The Banks is definately louder than the JBA no question about it. The Banks also has the much better sound compared to the JBA.
I like the performance of the JBA, but to other exhaust how does it compare noise wise. Is it as loud as the flowmaster 40 series?
And does banks give you any better performance?

The JBA is pretty much the accepted edge in performance over all the others. You have to decide what you want. Noise, or performance. It's all give and take. Banks is your noise bet. The Flowmaster 40 is also loud, but again, it doesn't give the best performance. There is no loudest that also leads the field in performance. It's an either/or thing. Pick your poisin. For my money, I'd go the JBA and take whatever extra bark that gives.
I have some clips available. I have had the 18" and the 14" magnaflow muffler swap and finally the JBA. The JBA is louder than the 18" magnaflow swap but the 14" magnaflow is louder than the JBA. I have some clips to help you on your way. The Banks is louder than the 14" magnaflow swap. I had the Banks on my 04 Titan and I now have an 07. The Banks is not that bad an idea if you can maybe put a smaller y-pipe like say a 2.25" like the JBA kit instead of the 3" that comes with the Banks kit.

The 18" magnaflow. http://media.putfile.com/magnaflow07titan
The 14" magnaflow. http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee53/juanito817/?action=view&current=14magnaflow.flv
The JBA. http://s229.photobucket.com/albums/ee53/juanito817/?action=view&current=jba2.flv
I've owned both. The Banks sounds awesome. Best sounding exhaust out there. I would not call it noise. The Banks has a badass harley chopper sound.
JBA has better performance and that is what i have right now but no lie I miss my banks. They way it turned heads and set off alarms. awesome.

Seeing how the Zoomers Exhuast is basically a glorified Glasspack, would this be the same thing?

One of the things that got me looking at the Titan was how bad *** a Titan in my old complex sounded. I'm still looking for that sound and I havent found it with my Zoomers just yet.
I don't believe the Zoomers and a glasspack are the same thing. A freeflow design such as Zoomers or Magnaflow is not quite like a glasspack. The Zoomers also subdues the "bark" with their patented anti-drone tip. So overall, the Zoomers will not be the loudest exhaust out there.
Hey VK56inFTW,
why do you say use the 2.25" Y-pipe on the banks instead of the 3".
Not, VK, but this has been discussed. The 3" pipes don't keep enough backpressure and you lose low end torque. Our engines seem to like a little more backpressure than the Banks allows. Most with Banks 3" have done the CAI and the 2° advance to get the low end back.
So then if i use my stock y-pipe I wont loose low end power?

IIRC, the best gains were seen with the stock Y-pipe and a magnaflow muffler. Most reuse the stock Y-pipe. Some aftercats come with new Y-pipes. I think most mimic the stocker but flow smoother.

Not trying to start anything here but there are some of us swimming upstream that aren't following the lemming trail and making pretty good headway. The reason I'm posting this is to let everyone out there know that there may be more to performance than a particular brand and performance may have more to do with balance. I ran a 14.091 my last time out and own neither the JBA or other accepted performance mainstays other than the UpRev tune. I just want people to consider other products so that we will continue to see new parts for our trucks and that will only happen if we are willing to try them. BTW my muffler has nothing to do with loud so carry on gentleman.
Im just now learning about mods. for trucks, I had a gsxr 1000 before the titan. Titan is my 2nd vehical. So do you know of anything that maybe nobody hasnt tried or posted that I could try out to see how it perform's?
I'm no expert on exhaust, but doesn't less back pressure mean that it's easier to get air to flow through? How can this hurt your low end torque?

It's hard to explain..............but exhaust gas velocity also
plays a part. If the pipes are too big, the gas velocity is
too low & power drops.
The big question with pipes is: what is too big??
Looking at the muffler alone, I don't know if it is
possible to have a muffler with too little back pressure.
I'm no expert either.:)

You have quite a bit more than just a simple exhaust, and after cams and such some of the proven performers out of the box aren't necessarily what it needs anymore either. For simple exhaust and CAI it seems to be that the JBA is a proven performer, now if you do more like you have on yours, that may not be the solution anymore, for example after toomnymods cams install his ran better then with the 2.5 b-pipes than it did with the smaller ones, so then the out of the box system is no longer the best. I don't think they are cammin their motors, they are simply out for sound and the best box upped system that others have. I think the JBA has the best, it seems to get the most mention here by users and by many that have had them on the dyno as well. No word on Nissmo sound but I hear the cat back system they have produces as good of power as JBA systems, but am I going to spend 800 plus bucks on it, heck no I can get the JBA for 500 or less, so do a search guys on exhaust and you will find more opinions and data on systems than you will have time to read, there are a few sound clips out there also at sites and you may find what sound you are looking for. I know the dyno data exists for most of the systems so hope ya got lots of time to read LOL.

Cool thanks for the info. I'm 15 and my avatar picture is a 2005 LE with everything from the factory and a sub which I will acquire on my 16th. I plan on setting about 2000$ into it but my dad said he'd pay half for of the after market stuff so I will put about 3500 to 4000$ into the truck.
