I'm ditching the Flowmaster 40 for a Magnaflow that way if my cats come apart again it will get shot out unlike the baffled 40 series and cost me a new motor. I do like the sound of the 40 series so I was wondering what would be similar to it if not a little louder from Magnaflow. Thanks

I had the magnaflow 5x8 oval 2.5 dual in 2.5 single out with the smallest case 14" (supposedly the loudest) part #12158 and to me its not even that loud the only thing that i dont care for is this kind of popping noise when at wide open throttle other than that i love it, i actually wish it was a little louder. mine is just a muffler replacement i have an 07 titan:cheers:

Popping while you are on it or when the revs are coming down?

I think the glasspack sound is a Titan trait with a Magnaflow. I had a Dodge Hemi with a 22 inch Magnaflow and it was louder and no glasspack sound. Maybe someone else knows how to eliminate the glasspack sound.

Is the sound you are describing similar to the Banks?

well i have never heard the banks so i couldnt tell you, however i have zero drone with the magnaflow unlike my buddies f150 with a flowmaster which makes my brain feel like its gonna implode while driving on the freeway.

Just put a 18'' magna on my 07 today,2.25 dual in 2.5 single out. When i went to the speedshop thurs i was going to buy the 14'' but i let the guy at the speed shop and my buddy talk me out of it. They both were convinced it would be to loud.I should have done what i wanted because the 18'' is not loud enough. It is only slightly louder than stock. I would suggest the 14'' for a good sound. The three chamber mufflers are even louder than the straight through because there is no sound deadening material in them. It is just a hollow can.

well everyone has a different opinion of what loud is, i dont consider the 14" magnaflow on my truck LOUD it sounds good to me, but my first car was a mustang that i dropped a 351 windsor in with hooker full length headers with dual 3" two chamber flowmasters with turned down tips that stopped just behind the two front seats with no cats, now that is what i would consider a car that was LOUD. but back in high school (10 years ago) it was cool to have a car that you could barely hear the stereo in.:bang:

I have the Magnaflow 18" and it is much louder outside than inside. Everyone compliments me on it. And to answer your question, anything magnaflow makes is going to outflow the 40 series. Probably give you a little more power as flowmasters only make more power over stock. But the magnaflow will NEVER sound like ANY flowmaster. They have such a distinctive and enjoyable sound, just don't make more power.

Here is a clip of my 08 with the 14" Magnaflow. I really like the sound and it is definitely louder than stock. I like loud exhausts and am really thinking about going with the Banks just because the Titan is not my daily driver, otherwise I'd keep the Magnaflow.
