ok over past week or 2 i have notice a whining/ gear mesh kind of noise at most speed up to about then i think other noise drowns it out. At first i thought is was my snowtires tread making noise on pavement but this does not seem to change even when on sandy part of road or snow. Is most pronounced at about 50-20kmph when coming into stop or corner. Does not change if on or off gas as well. Wheel bearing?
2011 Crew cab SL Titan 4wd

Any help appreciated.

No does not change doing that either, which kind of turns me away from bearing issue but not sure. I have thought of switching tires as well just in case

Bit more testing on way home yesterday. Turning made no difference that I could tell and trying different gears made no difference. It is in sync with my speed and as I slow it changes in frequency.

Wheel hub bearing. I am having one replaced on my 08 (81K miles) right now.

I saw a vendor on this forum that sells a pair of bearings for just over $200.00. (A1 something) Chances are you only need one, but you'd have a spare or you could resell it to get some $$ back.

I let the dealer do mine this time since they already have the truck and I was feeling lazy (cold outside).

I just replaced my drivers side hub, it was an easier bolt in unit than pressing out bearings, because i had a loud drown like tire noise. No play in the bearings, just the loud noise. $140 for a Moog hub from RockAuto.com. I was able to drive the hub out from the front using a cold chisel and did not need to disconnect the strut/spindle and everything. Everything is quite again. :)

Whining on the drivers side is easily fixed. Move your wife to the passenger side.

Was not too bad to get off. Bit of sledge hammer action. Bout an hour and a half to take off and new one on.
