First off my truck is a 2005 Titan SE Big Tow 4x4, about to hit 103k miles but for awhile I have had a whining noise coming from the front end. Before you say wheel bearings I have changed both front wheel bearings with Timkens. My dad says its the transfer case because the front diff would make a deeper hum, someone also told me it could be the u-joints. My understanding is that the transfer case doesn't spin unless in 4wheel drive? Noise is most audible from 40-55, however the whine is almost inaudible at 70-75 (daily driven at this speed). Or maybe it's just cause the exhaust is louder than the whine.

Current mods : Tires : Cooper Discovers ATP 265/70/18
Suspension : Fox 2.0 (just installed)
Exhaust : Banks Monster
Intake : AEM

Hard to diagnose long distance, of course... but the front diff and output side of the transfer case do spin all the time, in 2WD or 4WD. Titans have no disconnect at the wheel hubs, as some 4WD vehicles have.
