"Whooshing" after Header Install?

I've had my JBA long tubes on for about a week now, and I hear a sort of whooshing sound when I'm accelerating. Is it just the engine finally being able to breathe through the headers?

I'm paranoid that there's an exhaust leak, but all nuts are tight and I can't seem to find any leaks anywhere.

Headers do have a noticeable tick to them as most would describe it. Put a shop vac on blower mode, tape it to the tailpipe and spray all the connections with soapy water to confirm you have no leaks.

i just did mine a month or so ago and it did the same thing....kinda awful sounding really. I put anti drone piping in place and that got rid of that. Do a search on anti drone and you can read the thread.

I had a vibrant ultra quiet on prior to headers. It is amazing for unwanted exhaust noise

That's normal. Mine does that also but it's not bad. The UQ really helps kill all those unwanted sounds
How does the 5.6 respond with the headers? Probably install some soon.....

Amazingly. Possibly one of the single greatest performance mod to the VK56, next to an Uprev Tune.

Thats great. Most engines respond well to headers, probably the best mod to make on many cars. The titan just "feels" restricted.....its time....10 years ive been wanting them....

It wont disappoint. I think i remember hearing gains of over 30whp after headers and a tune.
I don't plan on doing a tune, just the headers.

You have to do a tune if you do headers, if not the truck will damage itself from either running too lean or too rich. Theres no way around it.

And why is that?
Can you explain why the computer can no longer adjust the a/f ratio with headers installed?
We do have wideband O2 sensors, but the computer can only compensate so far, and if it needs to adjust out of its set parameters, then the ECU assumes that something is wrong. Flex fuel trucks are sometimes more lucky, and the ECU can compensate more (must be something because of being able to run on E85), but the non flex fuel guys, the truck runs very lean, and will do some major damage.
Uprev and headers should actually be sold together no way around it. Cajun Stage 1 package is where it's at.

I just did this a few months ago. I did the Cajun setup. Go with that full setup. You wont be disappointed. One addon id recommend if you have older ears like i do....get the Vibrant resonator with your package it is well worth it!

Not if you don't need B pipes

truck is an 06' 2wd with oem hollow b pipes (no cats in b pipes) and already has a dynomax cat back system in which I subbed an ultra flow muffler in for the included super turbo muffler. its a single in, dual out muffler with duals out the back.

i do have older ears.....any guess as to how the setup I have now will sound with the headers?
Why anyone would choke a set of headers with stock 17/8" Id bpipes is beyond me. There are only a few mufflers I have found that work JBA, Borla and Magnaflow. Most will have a lot of CIS and rasp and you can expect the noise to double which is why the Ultraquiet is needed on the tailpipe and yes dual exits require 2. If you have emissions to pass the stock bpipes will not work and that's where the Cajun bpipes come in or Cajun Stage 1.
I was under the impression the stock B pipes were 2.5". So nissan put smaller b pipes then the rest of the exhaust oem?

I haven't been under the truck much since I installed the cat back around 9 years ago. Truck only has 84k miles but the pipes are starting to show signs of significant corrosion, especially around the clamps where two pipes join together. maybe ill bite the bullet and install a new system entirely.

I was just trying to get a nice header upgrade without spending tons of money, and im sure i would see a gain in performance from that alone, especially since your eliminating the cats the same time as upgrading the manifold, and my truck doesnt have secondary cats in the B pipes

ok, now im confused. Why would stock b pipes not pass emissions?
