I've had that happen with Toyo tires. So I ordered them off the Internet.

I got some quotes from local shops. Thought DT would compete, selling cooper's and all. I def wouldn't put a tire on my website I didn't have. I am hoping I am wrong and I just talked to the wrong person. Kind of funny if that were the case. The jingle that plays while you are waiting constantly reminds you of DT customer rep training.

Before anyone gets excited about ordering tires off the Internet (Direct Tire may be an exception) it's very difficult to file a warranty claim when you can't bring them into a store so they can look at them. I always buy an extra one knowing that I'm on my own.

I just ordered a set of tires from DTD for the wifes car. They offered a "no questions asked free replacement coupon" for $X per tire that is good until the tire is damn near bald (well not quite - but it was within the last little bit of tread). Worth it IMHO. Besides, they offer free shipping. I've dealt with local places that want to charge me shipping.

... because they hope that after they tell you they can't get the ones in the add, you'll ask what they have that is similar then try and peddle those at a "deal" and still make a sale... I had a similar instance, except I went to the tire store after seeing a Clist add... they advertised my 35" Fierce Attitude M/T's for 150/ea, even told me they had them on the phone... but when I went to the store that same afternoon, the guy told me they had none in stock and would run 200/ea ordered to be there within the next two days... then he tried to pedal some Federal M/T's for the 150 price... I looked the the tires, said "No Thanks, I'll look elsewhere..." and left... I went to a local Good Guy's Tire Store and got them afterwards...

Thank you for the post here allbtitan and sorry for the confusion.

We will carry the Cooper ST MAXX, we just currently do not have any sizes in stock. This however, does not limit us from ordering the tire in for you so I apologize for the breakdown in communication on our end regarding that. What size are you after? I would be happy to look into this for you.

AS far as warranty goes, our number one goal is our customers complete satisfaction. If there is ever an issue with a tire you purchased through us mail order or in one of our stores, we will take care of it and explain all options. We do not make our customers jump through hoops because in the end, we value our customers business and want you coming back for more tire and wheels.

^^^ Thanks for stepping up and clarifying... I know my own incident was limited to a wannabe tire business, and not a multi-million $ business, so it's always good when the big people come and actually show real concern for us little people... When I am ready to upgrade wheels and tires, I will definitely be in touch with DTD!!!
