Will stock Rancho shocks work on my non offroad Titan?

Hi,
I have a 4x4 Titan King Cab that does not have the off-road package. I would like to stiffen the ride by using stock Rancho shocks from the off-road package. I can get takeoffs cheap on ebay.

Will stock Rancho shocks work on my non off-road Titan?

Thanks!

Yes they will work. The springs themselves are the same though. Only the shock is different.
Nice!!! Thanks so much for answering my question.... even better that the springs are the same... no worries about mis-matching spring ratios...

I just save a bunch of money on my car ... truck suspension.
They will work but the "stock" ranchos are absolutly garbage. They are much worse than your non OR shocks. Ask Greg if you want he is the one I got this tip from. So no you won't stiffen up the ride much, if at all, and the stock ranchos on mine were toast at about 25k.

Yes you will....and you'll get excactly what you paid for!
Although it sounds like a good idea, you'll be swapping one type of bad shock for another, even if you got them for free, not worth the labor to swap...IMHO...
I agree with the above two replies. Spend a few dollars and get yourself a set of good quality springs.

I wouldn't say the stock shocks are bad, not as good as the aftermarket stuff but it's better then what other trucks come with. I really like the smooth ride of the regular stock shocks.
beware stock shocks have a very short life most only last 30k

Uh...I would...
Just about every truck out there has bad shocks from the factory...they just are...Driving home with my new Titan I knew they sucked, didn't know what to replace them with but knew they sucked...

Loufish is correct. Check out this post ... PRG explains why our stock shocks are crap.

If you have the off road pkg, go feel the "rubber boot" on the rear shocks ... that's right, they're not rubber, but instead are a hard plastic simulated boot, that slides over the shock body during operation. Absolute POS. :bangit:

I agree here. Both of my front shocks are getting replaced on Tuesday under warranty. 21K on the OEM units.

you must have a good dealer....from what ive read most wont replace shocks under warranty
They are a very good dealer. The left front is bad, or they think it is. They were going to replace just one. I told them that I thought that was odd because for out of warranty, they would recommend that shocks get replaced in pairs. So they are going to warranty out two shocks.

Once I am out of warranty, I will start looking at some other replacements. I was not overly impressed with the OEM Ranchos when test driving another truck. I thought the non off road shocks felt better.
