I bought a set of cheap in-channel window vent visors for my CC off eBay and when I put them on they were causing the auto open function to engage whenever the window was almost closed. It seems as if it was causing a bind due to the extra material in the channel.

So my question is, what are you guys running? In-channel or the 3M tape visors that stick to the cab?

Maybe I just got what I paid for, I know Weathertech makes a set of in-channel ones for considerably more. Just wanting to see if they would work before I pull the trigger.

I think it is more of a safety feature that opens the window if an obstruction is detected.
Anyways, I've installed the weathertechs and they are functioning properly. I did have the same problem at first, but since getting the windows up and letting them set in place I haven't had a problem.
Not sure on the eBay ones if they will set in place after a little bit. Also, if that doesn't fix it you may look for a thinner tape, or perhaps you can reduce the thickness of the plastic that sits in-channel.

I have had cheap ones... and good ones...

Cheap ones had the same problem. I don't think they spend the time to get the shape exactly as needed to fit properly and the thickness can vary a bit due to lack of quality control.

The Weathertech I put on... been on about 8 years now. Never had a single problem.

Some have; I have seen just about every brand have an issue here and there... but for the most part, the cheap ones will have a higher percentage of issues than the good ones...

Caveat emptor... sometimes you actually DO get what you pay for... and then, sometimes you get lucky. :dunno:

Seems like the consensus is in-channel. Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to try the Weathertech brand since it has gotten good reviews online as well. I am always leery of sticking tape on the paint, so I'd much rather find in-channels that work.

I've used AVS in channel on most vehicles and most don't cause any issues once they have settled.
Someone else on here suggested minor trimming with a Dremel. I put my new ones on a couple of weeks ago and the driver's window still catches at the rear corner so I'm gonna try the Dremel this weekend if it's dry enough.

I`ve always used the AVS 3M tape stick on. It never really bothered me to use that type. I do recall using the in channel ones on another vehicle and having the tight window issue which took a long time to wear in, and that was years ago.

I have the stick on style. I love them.

Do y'all have any pictures you could post of the stick on ones on your trucks? Now I'm curious to see what they look like! I see lots of pictures online of other trucks with them, but not many T's.

Thanks!

JayJay thanks for the pics! I think our trucks look so much better with them vs without. From your pictures I'm almost liking the looks of the stick on ones more. Since they stick out a tad farther.

I have the AVS stick on ones. I have not had good luck with in channel ones (blown off car with window down). Also can just re tape the stick on ones if you need to.
