I was at a red light today and when the light went green I accelerated. Wait I tried to accelerate but guess what!?! I heard a huge boom and something sounded wrong so I killed the truck and sure enough...MY DRIVE SHAFT SNAPPED IN HALF. Has anyone else had this problem?

Looks like something had been rubbing on it and cut it open.

Wow, that is a bust. Let us know what happens. Are you still under warranty? and 4x4? since it looks like an aluminum driveshaft.

I've been trying to figure it out, I was thinking it may have been my Zoomers, because one of the welds on the hanger broke off and it's been hanging sideways as I wait for the new pipe to come in. But when I looked under the truck there is at least 10 inches seperation. Either way, seems like a pretty week drive shaft.

Why did Nissan make thin aluminum drive shafts anyway?

Ouch, looks like something was rubbing it. Hopefully it's covered under warranty and they don't blame it on the exhaust.

Most newer vehicles have aluminum drive shafts.

And yeah, it definitely looks as though something was rubbing on it. If Nissan doesn't cover it, I'm sure they want a mint for a new shaft. You could get a drive shaft shop to fabricate a steel one for a more reasonable price probably.

That's because you have a 4X2. The 4X4 is aluminum.
That would be the answer!! LOL
