Equalizer. Rates well by most who have them. I have a Reese and I'm happy with it, but I don't tow 8k either.
I just bought one on rvwholesalers.com for $418 shipped, the equalizer 1000/10,000 with hitch ball.
I've got a new (unopened in box) factory one that came with my titan-this thing is way to heavy to ship so local buy only... sell or trade.

I bought a Curt Industries one from AdventureRV.net for $139 + tx and shipping. It did just fine on the way to Pismo, since my trailer only weighs about 7500 lbs fully loaded. Check it out.
