I guess it depends on your definition of "pre-wired". It is a simply plug in installation. Wires need to be run for the antenna only. Not a big deal.Titanic Tiff said:I have the SkyFi in my 93 Hardbody. It's a great little unit and I would highly recommend it for anyone that wants to try XM. It gets great reception and can be easily moved from one vehicle to another. Since I got XM over a year ago, I haven't listened to anything else. It really does blow regular FM away, especially now that all the music channels are commercial free. Some say its addictive. My wife tried it and I had to buy a Roady unit for her car just so that I could get my SkyFi back.
I don't have XM in the Titan yet, but it's one of the first things that I will add as soon as I can. I plan to buy the factory XM kit and install it myself since Titans aren't pre-wired for XM. This means that even though your radio may have the SAT button on the face, there is no wiring or anything installed to recieve the XM signal. That's why it says "No Sat" when the button is pressed. The tuner, antenna and wiring must be purchased separately and installed later to make it work.
Don't ask me why Nissan doesn't install the system at the factory like the brochures lead you to believe, but my brother had to do the same thing with his 04 Maxima to get his SAT button to work.
Well my truck was not (pre-wired!) for XM. I called Nissan on this a few weeks ago and they said the trucks are GOING to be wireded for this but that mine was not . I have no SAT. butten on mine and there's no set up in the Nav. Aparantly those that order the DVD and RF or 6 disk changer will have the per-wired set up for XM. Thats what I've been told by them. I'm very dissapointed that my truck which has all the options on it is not wired for this!bvstone1 said:I guess it depends on your definition of "pre-wired". It is a simply plug in installation. Oh, I see.. I assumed you had the RF or 6 disc unit. Those are not pre-wired, you're correct. Sorry for the confusion! One of the reasons I got the LE was because it was pre-wired.Deepwater said:Well my truck was not (pre-wired!) for XM. I do have the LE, with ALL the options. RF, NAV, DVD,AIR BAGS ECT. It wasn't (per-wireded) with it form the factory dispite what any info is saying! It is or soon will be though I'm told.bvstone1 said:Oh, I see.. I assumed you had the RF or 6 disc unit. Those are not pre-wired, you're correct. Sorry for the confusion! bvstone1... From what I have been told by Nissan. If your truck is not per- wired for this from the factory you have to have one that plugs into the aug. jack. The NISSAN set for XM was, you buy a box and have it installed. I don't really want to go with some after market set up. I though the factory's set up was a simple plug in and install. I hope what you are saying is true! I might have to go with this set up if they can't find a fix for the radio. Any info that you can find or if when your truck comes in and you have the SAT. Button on the radio to access the decoder box, please let me know! They might have put the WRONG radio in my truck! Thanks for any info you can share!bvstone1 said:I think we're off again on what pre-wired means.
To me it means you buy the kit (plug tuner into amp, mount tuner, mount antenna, wire antenna to tuner), follow the instructions and you're done.
Non-prewired would mean you would need an FM modulator and generic XM kit or something else.
Titanic Tiff said:Deepwater is correct. No Titans have been pre-wired from the factory as of yet. Nissan says they will be soon, but who knows when that will be. Regardless of what systen that you have, RF or not, you are not pre-wired. When I say "pre-wired" I mean that the wiring harness necessary to connect the tuner to the head unit is there. If you have a SAT button, you can get it to work by purchasing the OEM satellite kit and pre-wire cable. This needs to be installed under the steering column next to the amplifier for the stereo. The OEM kit includes the tuner, antenna, and wiring harness, everything you need to pickup the XM/Sirius signal.
I plan to get my OEM satellite radio kit here: http://www.infinitiwholesaleparts.com/en_US/HomePage_1.chtml
This was the only place that I could find that sells the pre-wire cable that is the most important part needed to install XM or Sirius. Once you install the cable, you can choose either service, it's just a matter of purchasing and installing the proper tuner and antenna.
If you do not have a SAT button, then you can get XM/Sirius by choosing any of the aftermarket units available such as the SkyFi, Roady, or the Kenwood Here2anywhere. These can be found at

So those kits that some dealers are selling are useless without this cable? That just doesn't make sense.. I know I've read of 1 or 2 folks installing it on their Titans (or Armadas?) here.. Just doesn't make sense...Titanic Tiff said:Deepwater is correct. No Titans have been pre-wired from the factory as of yet. Nissan says they will be soon, but who knows when that will be. ...and I came across your question. For my type C, the answer is no - the text does not scroll and I am really quite pissed about it. It's half of the fun of satellite. :crying:bvstone1 said:Oh, I see.. I assumed you had the RF or 6 disc unit. Those are not pre-wired, you're correct. Sorry for the confusion!
