Well, this will be the first big test of my SE CC 4x4, now with about 3,800 miles on it. We'll be towing from San Diego, CA to Page, AZ for a week of camping at Lake Powell.
We'll drive it in 1 day, about 12-13 hours - stopping only for gas - through the Mojave Desert, with temps in the 100-105 range most of the way. Elevations will range from sea level to about 6000 feet.
Our boat weighs in at about 8,500 pounds, 700 pounds of tongue weight, and has surge brakes on both axles. I don't use a weight-distributing system at all, I just hook-up to a 2 5/16 ball on a 10,000# rated ball mount with a 3" rise.
I plan on towing the entire way with the A/C and XM Roady blasting, and one eye on the tranny temp guage!
I'll give a complete report of my mileage and any problems upon our return next week...
