If I change the 3" y pipe to 2.5" will this change the sound of my exhaust? I love the way it sounds and would hate to change anything about the sound. Also, will this get some of my low end torque back?

I have recently put an AEM bruteforce CAI on and it feels much better but still feels like it is almost dragging. Hard to explain. I know my tires don't help. Just wondering if this would make a noticable difference? Without affecting the sound.

like warp said. you'll get better low end. the sound MIGHT be slighty different. possibly not quite as deep.

They're right. The sound won't be as deep, but you'll get some low-end torque back. You're building back a little bit of the backpressure. You'll lose a VERY small amount of hp but gain torque (which is what matters).

I had a banks muffler swapped onto my jba catback and it wasn't near as loud as any of the other banks I have heard, even after removing my secondary cats. That being said I have a strong feeling the majority of the banks sound comes from the 3" y pipe.

I love the sound to much. I guess i'm keeping the banks y pipe.

the bigger the pipes, the deeper the tone. i think the jba y-pipe is 2 1/4. i've got a custom y-pipe assembly using a flowmaster y-collector. 2 1/2 pipe then 3" pipe to a dynmax bullet muffler and my system is deeper and louder than some banks i've heard.

So you think if I get the flowmaster 2 1/2 to 3 I will gain some low end and pretty much keep the same sound in my exhaust? Will this increase be
enough to notice? Basically is it worth it?

IMO, the Flowmaster y-collector is the best flowing y-pipe you can use/install on a single exhaust. You will not loose any hp, but will gain low to mid torque.

keep your banks tip, run a custom Y and dump it.
