How does it sound? I am thinking of doing a very similar install very shortly. Did you build the box? How far back is your seat? Looks great!!

can you not put the seat down?

steve

That box is a beast! Tell us how it sounds when it is all hooked up though. That is a really nice sub. Everyone else on this forum steered me away from it because the box needed so much volume, hence not being able to fold down the rear seat.

I only have one kid, so i don't use the smaller seat that often. and when i do need it, take off two wires on the sub and in the garage it goes. but now i think of it, if someone needs a ride, they can sit in the bed..lol.
DLH- i have a 500/1 too and im waiting for a 300/2, which will power phoenix gold 6.5 ti comps in the doors. where did you mount your 10w6v2 in your truck? i almost got a 12w6v2, but went with the w7 at last moment, partly because of the design of the box, which fits better (bigger/stable) in the interior. and that the 10w7 is said to put out the volume of 3 10w'3 as well. if that is only partially correct, i should be very happy. well that's the theory anyway, i will let you know.
i think the box volume is 1.25ft. the problem is that the woofer itself stands almost 10 inches high. you might be able to build a custom box wider/shorter, but it would never fit underneath either seat, so you would still lose the leg space regardless.

IT'S EXPENSIVE :crying: the sub and the box are only sold as a pair from jl audio and you will never find them from internet retailers, at least cheaper anyway. i paid $599.00 from goodguys ($100.00 off retail) and since their a authorized jl dealer, it comes with a two year warranty. if it lives up to the hype, it will certainly be the last sub i need and i can live with the price if that's true.

I jumped on JL's site and saw they have a w12 and w13 in box's too. Did you check to see if either of the other sizes fit well in that space? Just curious if you know from experience whether or not the larger speakers/box's would fit too. Thanks!

whoa!! just saw this

cool I bet it sounds good, I love the 10w7's

your poor little girls ears :)

have you hooked it up yet??

I sure hope you have sound deadened that back wall , or everyone in your neigborhood will hear the rattle machine rolling into the driveway

I was online, and the box's I am refering to are also the prowedge sealed. Just larger in size with either a 12w7 or a 13w7. They are the same design and look as your ten. wazz; i think they would all fit. my wife has my truck right now so i can't measure. box sizes are as follows- 13.5w7= 18"h/22"w/18"d. 12w7= 16.5"h/20.5"w/17.25"d.
10w7= 14.5"h/17.75"w/16.75"d. i measured specifically for the 10w7 when i bought it, but by the looks of it, all would probably fit. remember cost is $200 per size increased. due to cost ratio the 10w7 was just the perfect size for me, lol. plus each size increase like about 250 more watts. i have a 500 watt amp and did not want to upgrade.
smoke; i will hook up by second week on january, ran out of $$. as far as my girl; "one more are we there yet" and its metallica for you!! lol.

HA HA HA all I can think of is "enter sandman" and one little girl ballin her head off. I am as anxious as everyone else to hear about your verdict when you get a chance in January. If my math is correct at $200 an increase we are talking $800-900, and $1000-1100, respecively, assuming you get a deal for the larger woofers. I have a 1000W rms amp, but I could see how a 10w7 sounds just about right from the wallets perspective!

im sure all of them could handle 1000 watts, but im only looking for 130 clean db's and the 10w7 will put me there comfortably. the other two would be overkill for my needs, especially the wallet..

Well you do have a choice. To get higher sound levels and better sound quality just go to www.adireaudio.com and check out their Car Audio section. Pick up a Brahma in a 10, 12, or 15 inches. If you compare the 10w7 with a Brahma 10" you will see that the Brahma has much greater xmax - the distance the cone will travel (simplified: the great the distance the cone moves, the more air movement, hence the louder it will go). Additionally the Brahma utilizes a smaller box, and can actually play lower. The best part is, is that it is much cheaper than a JL. Pair a Brahma with a "Sub Zero" box (designed for these speakers) and you would have one kick azz sub with better performance, sound quality, for less money. Truly a bargain when considering no holds barred subs.

Be sure to check out the vids on the site too!

Not to diss 04Titan's sub, just saying there may be alternatives out there for you audio finatics.

Lately I have been hearing a lot of good stuff about Brahma subs, and I will definitely give them a good look when my stereo gets stolen-or better yet I get sick of it and sell it (kind of sad when you basically accept the fact that equipment is going to be stolen). I currently have a RF power HX2 15", and I am working on building a box with a similar style to 04titan, behind the drivers seat.

Hey dman,

How do you think a pair of Brahma 12"s would sound? How much $? And would they fit under the seats?
