OK, I'm sure I'll get some heat for this, but I have to get it off my chest: We drive excellent trucks, yes. BUT, it's not like they're made out of gold or that they're shipped from another planet - they're still just trucks. I've read other posts that almost claim that people on the street faint at the sight of their mighty trucks. Now, I'm supposed to believe that all these Honda techs and salesmen come scurrying out to "drool" over a Titan while at their very own Honda dealership....come on, people. I have to believe that there is QUITE a bit of exaggerating going on. Are these Honda techs kept as slaves at the dealership so that they would never be able to see another Titan out on the road? I'm not trying to step on toes or hurt feelings, but I've yet to see anybody go into cardiac arrest at the mere sight of my Titan, as great as it is...:)
I've had it happen a couple of times but then it was early on when the first Titans came out.

I think you will find that people interested in machines will crawl all over anything new or that they haven't had a chance to examine before. They have a particular "eye" for things and really hone in on lay out and engineering.

I thought I'd never "mess" with my truck but once I started I got "curious" and I am amazed about how well thought out things are with this vehicle.

I have a lot of questions about my truck, but not like what I read on this board. There are only 3 or 4 in my town, but people do not faint at the site of my truck. I did have one guy run into a shopping cart stall at Lowe's in his Silverado because he was staring and not watching where he was going. I bet he felt silly.

If you just look at their product line up Brando you can see from their point of view that they dont work on any heavy duty trucks like the Titan! Who said anything about going into cardiac arrest or "drooling". I just posted what happened if you dont want to believe it thats your problem. I said I had some business to take care of at the dealership. They told me to drive my truck inside the service bay to unload something I had in the back. While I was in the service bay is when the service techs and the salesmen, and the service manager who is a personal friend of mine came out to examine the truck thats it nothing more. I also dont give a rats arse if you believe it or not Brando! :fu:

They may not WORK on any heavy duty trucks like the Titan, but surely they live their own lives and see them on the street like everyone else, no?

Actually, you did:

I went to the Honda dealership in my town today had some business to take care of while I was there. I pull up to the service dept and the service techs came out of the wood works. They were drooling over my truck, guys were looking inside the truck others were underneath the mighty Titan.

I spent 5 days in Vegas last week at the World Mini Motocross Championships and over the course of those days, had several guys come over to my Titan, in the pits, and give it a good check out, including questions about the drivetrain, and ask to see the interior. One guy sat inside, and remarked how impressed he was with the size of the truck.

getting gas the other day and my first encounter with a brand spankin' new ridgeline. boy was the silver paint job on it purrrttee. other than that, boy is it fugly as sin in person. this butch looking chick steps out, i wanted to laugh so hard but her mullet scared me...:eeeek:

I agree. I haven't even had strangers come up to me and ask me about it or had any punks try to drag me! Maybe I just look like an @$$hole and no one wants to talk to me. :crying:

The truck was in their hands up close they were checking it out. Did I use metaphors that were not up to your taste, like coming out of the woodworks, drooling oh well ! This is a "new" truck brando, hello! The reason I am upset about this whole thing is because you post something that actually happens to you, and then someone starts to insinuate that your a lier. Just because it hasnt happen to you doesnt mean its not true.

There is a lot of stuff on this forum that hasn't happen to me , but people say has occurred to them and their Titan. There aren't alot of Titans where I live yet but there are a boat load of F-150, and Dodge Rams. I think we have a helluva Truck and it looks great and people take notice. If that wasnt the case my Titan brothers all over this Forum wouldn't be saying how much attention their Titans get when their out and about.

Brando if you think your truck isnt all that, just trade it in and get something else like a Ford, Chevy, or Dodge. That way you won't have to put up with all the Titan accolades your sick of hearing. :domohit:

Another grump here that gets left alone!

I don't understand all the hate towards the Ridgeline. It's not like Honda is portraying it as the toughest truck out there. The reality is that it does the job that a lot of people need so what's the problem? Another reality is that a lot of half-ton truck owners out there haven't exceeded the capabilities of the Ridgeline in their own truck but their egos can't accept the Ridgeline as a valid option.

I thought we settled this once before, they can sense your Big Orange fever and they avoid you like the plague. About the only way you could have those fine folks in 'bama think you were more of an @$$hole would be to put a "I love Phil Fulmer" bumper sticker on your Titan. :D

I was thinking of getting a big sticker on the back window that has Fulmer
p!$$ing on the state of AL. My oh my, I'd be keyed in a chevrolet heartbeat!

Actually, when I bought my Titan, I had a similar experience with people going ape shet over it. The mayor of Argo saw it and imediately declared a town parade in my honor. There were little midgets running around and old guys in little bitty go-carts that were doing circles around my truck as I drove down the main road toward my house. The funny thing was that an F-150 was cleaning up all the elephant poop.

I never said that...in fact, I actually said in my post that we have "great" trucks. I guess I just realize that we're talking about a "truck" and not some rare gemstone. And with that, I'm done with this topic - no hard feelings, Elias.

No problem Brando your entitled to your opinion. This case is closed as far as I am concerned enjoy your Titan drive safely.

senna1,

Have you seen the TV commercial for the Ridgeline? They're driving it 'off road' (well, it's a dirt trail), and they're making it look tough. Just like the Chevy, Titan, Ford AND Toyota. They're trying to appeal to the masses just like everyone else.

And yes, they do say it's tough-go to their website. People are bashing the Ridgeline just like the "Big 3" bash the Titan. It's part of life-pick on the newbie.

You said it does the job-What job would that be? Honda is just trying to get in on the truck market. They just didn't do a good job of it.

Personally, I don't think Honda can make anything but good little cars and SUV's. They learned their lesson from the Rodeo knock-off. So their engineers had to design something new, on their own, and the Ridgeline was the best they could come up with?

Honda has a follwong though, just like the Big 3. And to those people, Honda can do no wrong-Element, Passport, and now, Ridgeline. So it will sell.

Actually the Rodeo was an SUV, not a pick-up. Honda's SUVs are doing extremely well in their respective markets currently. The Pilot, MDX, and Odyssey are selling at a faster pace than we can make them and consistently score very high or 1st in any comparo that the mags throw at them.

Yes, I think the Ridgeline is ulgy and overpriced, but don't underestimate Honda. The Big 3 underestimated us, as well as all the other JB3s when we first started making cars and now we sell 640,000 Accords a year to PRIVATE owners. Everyone sells to fleet, but Honda doesn't - that's why the resale value is the best in the industry on nearly every product we make.

My prediction:
The first generation Odyssey was a spectular failure. Honda R&D realized what people wanted in a minivan by doing TONS of research and stuck it into the second generation Odyssey that was a smash hit. In fact, in its 5 year of production, usually when you need incentives to push vehicles out the door, the dealerships were still getting a premium all the way though the last month of production!

With that said, I believe that the Ridgeline will follow the same "learning curve" as the Odyssey, however I think it'll sell moderately. I'd expect the next generation to be the one that's going to really take flight.

I think the Rideline would be a fine ride for a person who doesn't need a truck.. I was explaining this to some guys at work today and they thought I was dissing the Ridgeline. I'm not dissing it, but its not made to do the stuff I bought my Titan to do: such as haul over 1500 lbs, tow heavy trailers, go offroad, etc. Its just like the Avalanche. Its a "kinda truck" made for the streets. Well, I guess that most Chevy products in general... :)
