Nope. Washing removes airborne contaminates, bird crap, sap, road grime, tar, and other stuff that will "eat" into your paint.

Just remember to constantly rinse your sponge or mitt so that you don't scratch your paint.

Every two weeks??? You my friend are NOT washing your Titan enough.

I usually wash mine once a week. I was doing it two times a week when I first bought the truck. However, that got old real quick. It's a work out washing this beast. Sometimes, I'll do a mid week rinse at the local car wash if gets really dusty, but mostly it's once a week with the wash mitt and bucket.

I used to clean the wheels every two days before I got the brake fix. I just couldn't stand how dirty the wheels would get after two days of normal city driving. Now with the final brake fix installed, I can go nearly 4-5 days before the wheels start looking nasty.

I've been washing mine approx. every week. I can't wait for my perm. brake fix, if it really cuts down on brake dust.

I hope washing it often does not hurt, because I have Galaxy Black and I have to wash mine twice a week to keep her looking like she should.

Let's see; I have had mine for 18 months and I have washed it by hand twice, through a car wash about 4 times, and I had it waxed once. Is that too much?

I wash mine once every week or two by hand. The wheels get pretty nasty with brake dust and I have been getting a lot of tar and grease spray up witch I like to try to get off before it hardens on. I think I am going to install the splash guards to see if they help with this. Washing frequently won't hurt just use a clean mit and avoid the diry brushes at the do it yourself car wash.

Every week here. Use a sheepskin mitt to wash, rinse often, keep her wet, and keep her waxed and you can wash to your hearts content. Damage occurs when you use a sponge (doesn't wisk away the dirt from the paint like sheepskin), washing over dry areas (no lubrication for grit to float away on) and no wax (protective layer between grit and paint).

Yeah... what he said. If you like to wash a lot just make sure to keep some wax on it. If I washed twice a week I 'd probably wax about every month or so to keep the paint protected from fine scratches and swirls that can occur during washing and drying.

I wash mine once a week and use microfiber to wash and dry. I also use seperate microfiber towels to wash and dry the wheels, tires and wheel wells. Thats right I said wheel wells and I know it sounds rediculous but there is nothing that gives a vehicles age away quicker than dirty wheel wells. My truck will look brand new till they change body styles. I also clean the engine compartment and door jambs once every couple of months. It's not that hard if you keep up with it and a fat bastard like me can use the excercise.

I used to manage the New Car-Get Ready Dept. of a Mercedes/Saab/Volvo/VW/Exotic used car dealer. Prior to that I did prep/detail at a Chevy dealer for 6 yrs. Here are a few washing suggestions some may find useful:

1. RINSE! Rinse a lot. The more you can flood away dirt the better. Under a microscope a grain of sand looks like a gem with sharp edged facets that will turn your soft wash mitt into an abrasive devise.

2. Get a mitt. A synthetic lambs wool mitt. Not a sponge. Not a rag. Not a brush on a handle. Hint-if your mitt gets matted or yucky looking, let it dry and throw it in the washer/dryer. It will come out nice and fluffy again.

3. Use only car wash soap. Not a handful of Tide, or a squirt of Dawn. Luandry/Dish detergents are far too strong. Car paint needs a Ph value of 7.0-as close to neutral as you can get.

4. Sunlight is bad. If you have to wash in the sun, stop and spray the vehicle often. A water softener helps, but if you don't have one...keep the vehicle wet.

5. Wash the shadow side first, then wash the sunny side. Fewer spots.

6. If you drop your mitt, be mad. Not you have to go and rinse the heck out of it before returning to wash. This applies to your chamois when drying.

7. Last and most important: Anytime you rub your paint you will scratch it. Therefore minimize your damage. Do this by going in a linear motion from front to back. Rub in a straight line. Not circles. Make your maintinence scratches follow body lines. This rule applies to washing, drying, wax on, wax off, using speed detailer (a great between product).

I hope you guys can use this info.
Rick.

Good advice rico387 and the only thing I would add is that the wheels, tires and wheel wells can be done as a separate operation to allow you to dry the truck body and windows before they spot. I gennerally do the wheels and such after I'm done with the boby and sometimes in bright sun since you don't have to worry to much about spots if you do them one at a time.

All this talk about keeping our Titans clean, makes me want to get up early tomorrow and give her a bath....

Sigh, where are all these people? I need people that are just as fanatic about washing their vehicles as me!
I was until the clear coat rolled off like a window shade. Damn Red Alert.

Plus, a lot of the new bunch have their vehicle washed. 🙄

Yeah, those automated washes really tear up the clear coats. I have only taken my 5 year old car into the car wash about 2-3 times when I tore my Achilles and couldn't hand wash it. After that, I noticed a few spider scratches that I hadn't seen before. Those things are great for whipping the dirt off, but also mark up today's "sensitive" paint jobs. It almost makes me want to get the vehicles wrapped.
