Just got mine installed. Is it supposed to come with instructions? I am wondering if there is a way to disable it while working under the hood so 'accidental' starting is not possible. Dealer said "I dunno." (Dealers suck!)

This is a Genuine Nissan Accessory or aftermarket?

My dealer told me that Nissan doesn't make a remote starter and if I wanted one, I had to go to an automotive/stereo shop nearby for one. ????
The dealer was correct. Chevrolet is starting to offer it in some of their cars this year. Wouldn't it be great if Nissan and others offered plug and play modules? It would almost guarentee that every interested owner would buy their system. Even if it cost more money, I know I'd own it already.

$400 Expensive? Try installing one yourself sometime and then tell me! I installed one in my '97 V8 Thunderbird 2 years ago (Its for sale now, BTW) All afternoon on your head under the steering column will make you think otherwise.

it aint too hard of a install a lot of us have done one already and can offer tips for other members who are thinking of doing...do u have any pics of the key fob??

I was also informed that nissan does not make a remote start and still think its an aftermarket they just put in...

Interesting. Its the same fob that came with the truck. Push lock button twice to start. Where can I find the module to determine brand?

Ours too usues the factory keyfob to start. You just hit lock twice to start. If installed the right way, you can roll down the windows or, in my case, open the power sliding doors in the Quest, without having to have the key in the ignition. The unit should be up under the dash close to the fuse panel. You can also just call the dealer to find out the brand they use.

Dealer says it is a Nissan! Doesn't roll down any windows either.

Nissan doesn't make such a unit. If they did, you'd be able to order it as a factory option. If you can't hold down the unlock button to roll the windows down while started with the remote (and before putting the key in and turning it to "ON"), they left a jumper off during the install. There's an extra wire needed during the install that my dealer told me about when we had it put in the wifes Quest. The reason I know this is because we had it in the last Quest (that Nissan replaced...long story) and when it was installed in the new 05 Quest we were able to operate the power liftgate, sliders and windows. We couldn't do that on the last Quest.

Just called the dealer again. They said there is no way to disable it. No switch at the fuse box. Works with the hood up. Guess I'll have to find the module and determine the brand. The one I installed on the T-Bird (Bulldog Security) had both a hood switch and a lead that disabled it when grounded.

Thanks!
