They will drag just about anything you latch onto. I've done 9K+ scrap hauls with mine. But I wouldn't make a habit of it. But yes, The T's will do in a pinch.

That's my point...in a pinch. Would I make a habit of it or travel across the country...No way. I will say though, the Titan does way better than my 3/4 ton Chevy gassers ever did.

I was in a pinch. Lol my father was in erie so the duramax wasnt around. I had to go dig around my storage building the next couple days so. The tilt trailer is heavy too but sweet. Titan knew she was haulin some weight. But new brakes an rotors on titan and two new axles tires an brakes on trailer it was a smooth ride.

good braking habits help. Plus good trailer brakes too. I had couple nimtwits that see a truck hauling a load an wanna jump in front cause they think youll slow them down. yet i'm the one passing them lol i think it pulls nice and stops rather good. just my opinion

you also say youll rent or borrow a diesle. i dont' get the reasoning behind that? The titan has the power. the brake pads are a bit smaller but good pads on truck and trailer and your fine. so why a diesle?

There is more than braking and what it "can" pull factored into the towing capacity.

You are also putting stresses on the frame, springs, and other areas that they are not designed for that much weight.

If you ever get in an accident while having exceeding your towing capacity, get a good lawyer. Also it could be grounds for your insurance to deny a collision claim.

Have I mentioned it is a bad idea to exceed your towing capacity? It is very unsafe for you and everyone else on the road.

Good braking habits will not help if you need to stop more suddenly. I'm not saying that I have not pulled overloaded ever but the few times it's been within a couple miles at real slow speeds.

The other thing that most don't realize is that if you crash your insurance won't cover you because you are braking the law. If you kill someone in that crash you may go to prison for vehicular manslaughter as your negligence by towing to much caused the crash and death. See DOT doesn't care how big you think your engine or brakes are.

But let's say it's not that serious and it's a minor fender bender but insurance tells you to piss off. Minor crash these days is 2k out of your pocket vs rental of a diesel. No diesel doesn't change anything but I mean more a 2500-3500 series.

I'll give you an example, I tow 8500lbs boat when loaded. It tows it like nothing. If we go further than local like over an hour or two away it gets hitched to a dually. Could I pull it and legally, hell yes. Weight lifters do not work out at max the entire time. You want that cushion.

But do as you please and I wish you luck. I've been towing for a long time and have had enough scares. No thanks.

Brake pads are slightly smaller compared to what? Measure the rotors. 2500-3500 also out weigh us so in a panic stop takes more to cause tires to slide any. It's built for it hence why the ratings are there.

Never in a million years will the current Titan pull or stop like a 2500-3500 diesel series truck.

Also like chap said you are straining other parts. I used to tow 7500lbs boat with a 98 Tacoma. This was in my dumber years. Rear axle assembly needed to be replaced due to becoming warped from to much weight.

The weight of the towing vehicle is a huge factor. My 89 F-350 flatbed single-cab weighs 2200lbs more than my T. It's also a manual shift, which means I don't have to rely on a computer to drop a gear for me to assist in slowing down. Titans are great trucks, and excel at light to medium towing duty, but they aren't magical haulers, and definitely not one-tons.
Sort of beating a dead horse here, but especially if you are towing big, other drivers will become exponentially more retarded as they get near, beside, and then in front of you. This is a simple fact, I used to haul resin and iron to mines all over the west in Kenworths and Peterbilts. Regardless of if you are rated to tow what you have latched on or not...Regardless of the capabilities of your vehicle at all, you have to be utterly on edge anytime stopping distance is greater for any reason, particularly when you have a 'hinge' anywhere on your entire mass.

All that being said, Hauling a skidsteer out to a job in a pinch? Kudos. Hauling it daily? Um.. no. But the idea that the motor being diesel or gas..where does that come from. I've hauled very heavy equipment with both, and it really doesn't matter as long as the brakes/frame/axles/transmission/etc are designed with heavy-haul in mind... And oh yes, lets not forget those who do this sort of hauling on cool mud tires that aren't rated near enough for the task.

at least 50% of the ppl towing anything on the road aren't fit to be driving ANYTHING, period, trailer or not. There is no such thing as 'Drive Safe' the closest one can get is to 'Drive Well'.

Don't let them bother you. Some people relly freak about safety. I have towed way more than that with my Titan (about 18k lbs ) and it did just fine. If your load is balanced, and you have good trailer brakes it is not a issue. Never have I seen any cop weigh a load after an accident. Heck getting a trooper to even show up is almost impossible. I hade a accident last week and after a hour wait the sherrif told us to go home and fill out a blue form because they still had not even got in contact with a state police.

Every site I have ever been on lots of people scream about following every damn rule. Drives me nuts.

I said diesel meaning 1ton not necessarily the engine it self. My bad.

Hey I've done that in a pinch. I'm just saying that there are people who would hitch up a lot more like nothing and drive across the state. I saw a guy tow a 12k boat with a Honda Ridgeline across Florida east to west.
