i was bored and decided to take my truck to my shop because i wanted to Hydro Dip my engine cover Carbon Fiber.. while i was taking it off it snapped, the plastic became brittle i guess from it being colder than a witches tit outside.. theres 2 plastic cone shaped pieces that pop into place when you put it on, and while i was removing it one got stuck and left a hole in the side of the cover. i thought about either using some JB Weld to try to fix it or bondo over it but like ive said a million times, i dont believe in having a hack job... mine was a full cover, ive seen ones on ebay with the center cut out going for $50 new but for a piece of plastic i can pick something else to spend $50 on. Has anone completely removed theirs?? whats the purpose of it? is it just for show or does it actually have some functionality? and my last question, for anyone who removed theirs, would u be willing to part with it?! as of right now, i completely took mine off

I am assuming its for looks, I like mine and might paint it but if it broke I would just leave it off.

ive had the same problem, ive used two part epoxy twice now....its broken both times....havent gotten around to doing it a third time. the cover is just for looks mainly. to keep the top of your engine clean and looking "tidy" when you lift the hood to do oil changes and check things out, other than that no real reason to have it.

well did this today. trying to be gentle and lifting straight up. when the cover finally came loose the cone piece stayed in the rubber grommet, nice... sheesh...

I did use 2 part epoxy, and drilled a hole in the center and used a screw and fender washer, but it looks like crap...

so undecided if I just want to leave it off or just replace it... dammit...
