Hey guys. Great site.

I have been recently informed that the 2007 titian has 317 horsepower and 385ft/lbs of torque. Is that the "Endurance engine"? or is the "Endurance engine" the beautiful marvel of engineering sitting in between my frame rails? To add a fact to the regular v.s. premimum war, if the titan does have a active knock sensor that will actually advance the timing then YES, performance is increased, marginally, but if she does not have a active knock sensor you are unfortunately wasting your money. does the titan have a active knock sensor? Imagine a titan with active valve timing (like Honda's VTEC).

Thanks alot,
Newbie (1971tra)

P.S. I have a bone stock (unfortunately) 2006 Titan SE w/towing and traction packages.

Wow, your kinda all over the board with that post there buddy. Yes the rated power of the 5.6 endurance will be increased for the 2007 model year. Other than that, you will have to help me by clarifying what exactly you are asking.

Sry but what I mean is that I see some titans with the endurance logo on the front driverside quarterpannel bellow the V8 logo. and I have seen others, including mine, that don't have "endurance" written under the V8 logo. What makes a titan a "endruance" titan in other words.

Nice avatar Kenny lol

yeah that badge adds horsepower to the truck. Including stickers :) jk

Its just a marketing ploy. Nothing too drastic

you have the endurance engine just not the cute lil sticker

The VVT has been discussed, and I do believe Nissan has t ested it. I'm guessing we would get about a 25-50hp /tq bump with it. It's costly though.

04 Titans had Endurance on the front fender. It is just their name for the motor like Vtech from Honda or i-force from toyota. He wants to know if anyone has found out if there is a knock sensor. If there is it would make a difference in which fuel you use. If there isn't it will run the same on all gas octanes.

Yes...all Titans have the "Endurance" engine, but it's only spelled out on the 04s for some reason. This active knock sensor things though is news to me. A knock sensor is a knock sensor is a knock sensor. They all do the same thing....advance and retard timing as needed...in this case, regular fuel and premium cause timing advance (premium) or timing retardation (regular compared to premium). Since the Endurance engine does slightly benefit from premium use, the thinking is that it's tuned for premium (same engine as the Infiniti model). But...this has all been thrown back and forth here for some time.

Hate to state a thought instead of fact, but all modern engines have knock sensors. Replacement unit is advertised for the Titan, must have an original to go bad. All these fancy dohicky engines get timing done by various sensors and a computer (ECU). Yes, coworkers are seriousely impressed with names like Powerstroke Diesel, ask them what is special about it , what makes it a Powerstroke, and they say "I don't know, but I think it has more power on the stroke".

Don't get me started on the Hemi, but search for some very good info on the "Howthingswork" site, link is on this site somewhere. Great reading.

Endurance name used in magazine ads running in August/September, just not marketed like other badges are.

I was running my UpRev Cipher tonight and loving all the sensors built in to the Titan Endurance V-8! A/F Bank 1 and 2, Intake Air Temperature, Timing, RPM, Speed, Coolant Temperature all on one screen (for review when stopped of course). Great investment if you want to learn hands on. "RAm-mount" laptop mount works great.

Welcome to TT, it's addictive. Enjoy it all you can.
